Hi, I shall answer everything you asked. Why players must be from their own/roots country, is because it makes the contest special. And, when it was created, it was going for a similar concept to ANOTHER song contest, WWWSongContest, because the admin that created it, was taking part there, and enjoyed that concept. Allowing random users to take countries was not an option, as it doesn't make it interesting and ruins the concept, that I will not allow anytime soon. This contest was meant to be for players who were from/has roots to a certain country. (BTW; I love song contests like where you can choose randomly, but this concept I love much more) The only microstates that took part were Cape Verde, but the player was DSQ for not voting in time, San Marino, where the player was from there, and Monaco, where the player had roots to the country. And, there was proof that for example the Sanmarinese player was not an Italian. I don't expect anyone to debut from these small countries, but I'm not having a huge problem I didn't take it as criticism, but I just think that I should explain this way. The UK is a popular country yes, but by the looks of it, our new player wouldn't want to leave soon. It's great that you find interest, and sorry that the country is taken. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Do you have the UK here?

[!] IMPORTANT RULE CHANGE FROM #11 [!]Starting from #11, Worldvision Song Contest will have a limit on how many countries will be allowed to take part. Over the editions, the number of participants grew very high. In #4, it had 50, and in #5 it reached it's peak, 56!! That is way too over. It decreased by each edition and then going back up, having our lowest since edition #3 in #10.
However, me and Dusan discussed this, and it became a problem. Naglis (the 3rd admin) is very inactive at this moment, and really only chats with us to give his votes, and maybe to have an off-topic discussion too. Having a 3rd semi final requires (or would be more easier with) a 3rd admin. And since he may not be in time to give his wildcard, we didn't want to continue 3 semi finals.
Starting from #11, 2 semi finals will be held, with a player maximum of 43. This would mean that there is 21 in each semi plus the host in the grand final. 12 will still qualify from each to make up the other 24 spots in the grand final. It seems much easier and you will ALSO have more chances to qualify, unlike the 3 semi finals.
If it goes over 43 participants (this goes for new countries/returning) the entries will not be accepted. However, this does not apply for our active players, unless you withdraw. But you will still probably be guaranteed a place anyway
I hope you all like the rule, if not, WVSC needs it's limits; could you imagine how difficult it'd be for 56+ participants? It's better to have a low amount, as there wouldn't be many disqualifications or huge problems.
