SAN MARINO PRESENTS... Vhelade Bale Mura!
Interesting facts about Vhelade:
- She is from Samugheo (Sardinia), her mother is Italian and her father comes from Democratic Republic of Congo.
- Her grand-mother is an authentic Bantu princess.
- She already performed for Italy at Eurovision Song Contest! Say hello to her at 0:53 for instance.
Interesting facts about the music video:
- You can hear Italian, Sardinian dialect and Lingala in this video. Lingala is one of the numerous Bantu languages, spoken mainly in Democratic Republic of Congo by around 8M people. "Nalingi yo" means "I love you" in Lingala.
- Tischy Mura, Vhelade's mother, played in the video (like many of her relatives). You can see her at 5:08 for example.
- The main locations where the video was filmed are the village of Samugheo, various prehistoric funeral buildings (Domus de Janas (House of the Fairies), Giants' Graves) and the dunes of Porto Pino. All these places are located in Sardinia.
AfroSarda (Nalingi yo) is the first single of her first album AfroSarda. This entry is a perfect combination between her Sardinian and African roots, and between ancestral tribes and modernity. It sums up the message of love and equality she promotes in her album. "Nalingi yo" is repeated like a mantra many times with her amazing strong voice, and the Afro electro music leads us to a mystical trance. The song is also representative of the insular artists, who often have their feet deeply anchored into the ground that provides them energy, the head in the sky that gives lightness, and the look on the sea, which is a frontier but also a link with the farest countries, that releases imagination.
The video is divided in two parts: the official music video and the making-of, which is also interesting on a musical point of view.
