I find it outdated and the chorus is repetitive. But apart from that I actually like it especially the 2nd half. That's mainly why I'm giving it a . Another point I like, is that it's partly in Croatian (which we haven't heard in a few years now) and he's an impressive voice imo. Not sure why he needs these wings tho.

I can understand why Montenegro is hated, but this?Cool song, great vocals (if not a bit rough around the edges)

I honestly don't even know how to put my opinion into this song lol
As a first, Roko, despite his very young age (boy's born in 2001 even), is a fantastic singer, and he puts a lot of strength to carry this song, which I really like. I also kind of like the instrumentation of this song as well. It has cute orchestral and dramatic sound to it + you can easily hear that this is a Jacques composition lmao And bless the fact that this is at least bilingual. I've honestly missed the Croatian language since 2013.
But there is a lot I have to criticism this song for. One of those things are the lyrics. The choruses are just sometimes unbearable to listen to when hearing the Oprah inspired first chorus. The Croatian chorus doesn't help either when I can understand it + it's just as cheesy ("like a hero x2, yours and mine, love is a hero"). As much as I also like the instrumentation, it still feels like something is missing to create a more suspenseful instrumentation, and I think both the lyrics plus the weaker instrumentation is what is stopping me from making this go higher up than what it already is. A revamp could fix this.
but besides that, idek what to say about this anymore lmao. Dora 2019 overall was rather weak in the end, and this was (unfortunately?) one of the better songs imo, but eh, hope they can improve this in the future (also, get rid of the free-english rule, jesus fuck).
Will it qualify to the finals? Unsure. This feels like it will either sneak its way into the Grand Final and place like 16th, or completely be left untouched in the Semis and stay there, and idk which one I can see happening. I can see this do fine, if Roko's vocals stay as strong as at Dora, and if a small revamp gives the song a boost, but that's about all I can say.
Overall, I'm rather disappointed, as I expected Dora to provide much more than what they did, but at least the song is alright + Croatian is back for once. I hope for the very best of luck to Roko and Croatia through out their Eurovision 2019 journey!

meh-ish. I expected better from him as he is known as the great singer. It is just sad that we have these great singers wasted on such outdated and chanceless songs. Potential wasted Lorena should've won as that song is best Dora had not just this year and would surely give Croatia their 1st top 10 in this century, what I believe anyway idk if this is going anywhere, this could do Serbia 2018 as he is quite famous but there is only macedonia in that semi for Roko to have chance, hopefully he will end up like Nevena and try again in the future after possible nq down to , it sounds really messy. Actually I kinda overrated it cause I generally like Roko but this is just not it. Both Croatian and English parts are horrible and song is just outdated and uninteresting. This wouldn't do well in the 2000's too actually. It will get forgotten or just will end up being cringe act that will stay in the semi especially with those wings

God, who wrote this … Oh no. No!!! Noooooo! He’s BACK. Why is he baaaaaack…. Was 2017 not enough!?!?! He has to come back and curse me further with his cheeseball fluff and toothy grin? The entire entry package is a Jacques Houdek specialty. Which means you’ll be seeing him (at least) on Thursday evening in Tel Aviv. He’s in some of the promotion photographs with Roko, so the second coming of Houdek is upon thee. If you didn’t like “My Friend,” which contained the lyric ‘dare to dream’, then you’re in for a nightmare. “The Dream” is a borderline Slavic ballad, but with elements that keep it from plunging completely in that direction. The first verse and chorus are sung in English, followed by a verse and chorus in Croatian. In that way there’s no reason to be confused about the song’s message. But honestly, how would you be confused about it? If you had to *guess* what a song titled “The Dream” is about, just based on the title alone, about half of you would get it right. Houdek’s specialty is campy, schmaltzy material, and that is prevalent in the staging and lyrical content of “The Dream.” Even the instrumentation, at times, feels cheap - like the mid-section bridge, with sounds I can only describe as weird Casio keyboard orchestrated synths. The chord progression is unoriginal and overdone... It’s bad. The only credit to this - and I hold my breath because who knows if “the wings” will be kept or not - his voice is amazing. Nobody can deny he’s hitting about 15-20 high notes in those 3 minutes. And in live performances, he hits them 99% of the time! If you asked me, it’s the vocals that helped him win Dora: it’s a vocal showcase. You could argue that “My Friend" was a vocal showcase as well, with switching back and forth between English conventional and Italian operatic vocals. I'm not repulsed by “The Dream” as I was with “My Friend.” Yeah, lyrics like “I have a dream - a dream as beautiful as it is extreme” make me facepalm and groan. But I don’t necessarily feel like Roko is a stale joke. There is a work of art in here somewhere, but I’d like to think the art is cheap enough that it will struggle to qualify.

If I'm being honest, I tried actively to like it and possibly even get it up to . But instead I'm now rating it down to now. That's mainly because of the English chorus. The fact that it consists mainly of "I / We / You (whatever) dream of love" is highly annoying...
