as well This one is my guilty pleasure, too. I’m a sucker for 1980’s nostalgia, from which this song borrows more than any other. There’s admittedly a British flavor to this from the way Albert sings, to how the band itself presents the music video. There’s surely something to be said about this but I’m not the one to judge. (The United Kingdom won’t be voting in their semifinal ) If I had to point out a weakness, I’m not keen on the lyrical content. The leading verse is “Can you hear it? - Someone behind a wall making the same sounds - Can you hear it? - It sounds like you and me when we’re making love” Albert is apparently listening to his neighbors having sex... Why would you write a song about this!?!?!?! Maybe that’s the overwhelming dislikes for this compared to Mochowa’s song, because apart from that I find it hard to believe people rate this so low. One of my best Eurovision friends from Italy literally ranked this his personal last place of 2019, and I don't understandddddddd. Maybe, maybe if you’re not shrouded by electropop nostalgia you may find this song (and act) cringey?? (Well you know what’s actually cringey? MADONNA performing at Eurovision. You know, so totally Israeli!)Fortunes aside, we have two favorites of mine in a row in the running order. I don’t know how it will come across in a larger arena - indie pop songs tend to feel better in smaller venues - especially since in Amsterdam they made the weird choice of lowering the octave for the live performance. Albert needs to find something to do with his body other than jump around like a silly goose in a yellow sweater, but that is seemingly his thing. But they feel authentic (unlike Montenegro) and are treating Eurovision more like a ‘gig’ than a contest. Good on them. So this is my one pass, guys. This is the one I get to rank high for the sake or ranking high and personally loving everything it offers, knowing quite well it won’t reach third place. But then again, I put Jamala in fifth...

I am now over my initial big disappointment, knowing and following Lake Malawi for a long time and knowing fully well that they can do much better than this. It’s a as of now for me, though I can’t deny that like for many others the song is growing on me (the mini-revamp helped a lot there too).
