The only good news of this edition for France are that we are sure now that most of the people here consider Alizée as a one-hit wonder (the message was pretty clear with her humiliation at 35th edition, now there is absolutely no possible doubt about that - so say good bye to her because you probably won't see her anymore) and that the record of the Rita Mitsouko with 7 points has finally not been beaten. These results could have been completely different with another theme or different rules, or if any of the multiple artists who finished 3rd, 4th or 5th had actually won the contest. The situation could have been completely different if Julie Zenatti hadn't met massive worlwide hits in the same edition or if the timeslot we prepared for I Muvrini and Sarah Brightman had been used for example. Or if we had been able to use some songs before they became ineligible because they were taken by other countries (and sometimes even won their edition) or used in the main contest. This edition was a quite cruel reminder of the fact that France is waiting for a new victory for 45 long editions (2 years and a half) when other big countries have already won many editions. More than upgrading the place of France in the Ranking of Nations, which had been the main goal during previous decades, winning again will be the absolute priority of the 70s. During this decade, we will have: - 5 female entries, 3 males entries and 1 international collaboration (the only one of the decade) between a male and a female artist ; - 3 returning artists; - 1 cover (the one we prepared for this edition) and 8 original songs. And hopefully the theme and the rules of the 80th edition will give us some hope of good results.

I returned to this edition with an artist that didn't even get to top 15 and I managed to get top 10 in this edition. I don't really think it's the theme's fault but the entry you picked just wasn't strong enough.

13th! I wasn't having any clear expectations except the lower left side of the scoreboard this time and that was achieved. :DBut then, I personally feel a little underrated because I spent almost the whole thing on the left side. But okay, it's how people decided abd I'm not very bitter about the results. And the obvious winner. I'm actually really surprised by her beating everyone else by at least *2 (+something more). The rest of the top 10 includes many entries, which I'm struggling with - most notably probably Iran. Congrats to everybody for their results abd see you soon in .

I don't really think it's the theme's fault but the entry you picked just wasn't strong enough. I know Alizée's discography (which is not your case) and all of her songs are quite similar (at least those from the 2000s). So if people here disliked J'en ai marre and Mademoiselle Juliette I am totally convinced now that there is absolutely no single way that any of these entries would have a single chance:
Of course there was also the option of sending La Isla Bonita but IF one day, I am thinking about sending this song (I said IF...) I wouldn't ruin Mad'House's chances. And if we compare the cover to Madonna's version, honestly, Ashley would have good reason to murder me for having ruined the song forever.
The only song by Alizée that I MIGHT take in consideration for a very unlikely comeback is this one, from April 2014 (so for sure, she will take at least a five year long break in this contest)
But if you see the number of likes and dislikes, and if you understand the comments in French below the video, you will see that many people, even in France, completely destroyed this song. So I probably won't send this song either...

I'm very happy with this 3rd considering how tremendous this edition was, very proud of it The voting was rather intense for me as I started to fall a lot during the 2nd third of the voting The winner was super obvious but well deserved, such an iconic song, congrats! Not bad either, I quite liked it I was so happy to see them doing great in such a strong edition, very proud of them, wish they didn't get out of the top 3, wouldn't have minded if that meant pushing me out of it tbh Great placement too, I expected it to do a little better I later thought this could win as well, surprised it wasn't a big contender hmm Thank you Jasna, for all your work and see you all next time

When I saw the complete disaster of the 35th edition, I became 99% convinced that Alizée was considered as a one-hit wonder. So when I got obliged to send her, I was completely convinced that she would flop. I said all the edition long that a good result in this edition would be a complete miracle.

italix I don't question your knowledge of French music, at all, you're an expert. However I do have the same question, why do you see most stuff in a hard way? I mean an artist getting an 'humilliation' only for getting a low result in a contest is a little bit too much for me, it's just an online contest dedicated to old music I mean it's not bad to 'vent' a bad result, it's okay, I do that often as a bad result can also make me a little angry, but I wish I could see your 'positive side' more often, because I don't dislike you or anything, the contrary, I just wish I could see you're having a good time in here as most of us Edit: to clarify, I don't mean you're blaming others or whatever, I just want to know why you don't let your 'positive side' show more often when instead all we get is the opposite.
