THE CONFIRMATION DEADLINE HAS OFFICIALLY PASSED!
As the host of this contest, I shall officially announce that the deadline to confirm your participation in the competition has officially passed, therefore, no confirmations from this post and onwards may be accepted into the edition.
20 countries have confirmed their presence in the upcoming edition.
Of these, I am glad to say 5 of them are debutants, and they are, namely, China, Colombia, Moldova, Taiwan and Thailand. Welcome to the competition!
Armenia, Belgium and South Korea are now the 3 countries left to have participated in every edition of the contest, and with the same users. Thank you for your dedication to the contest since its very beginning!
Albania, Australia, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States and Uzbekistan, to the 12 of you, thank you very much for being a part of this edition as well!
Many of you have been participants of this contest since one of the first editions, and I cannot thank you enough. To those who are just joining, a huge thank you to you as well for your interest.
Ukraine, as the winner of the 8th edition, had priority to the hosting rights of this one. However, as they are not a part of this edition, hosting rights are passed down to the by just 1 point runner-up of the 8th edition, Italy. This will mark the 2nd time the competition is hosted there, after Rome hosted the 4th edition some time ago. Rome has also hosted the 1st edition of the Junior Our Song Festival, the obsolete junior spin-off to this contest, making them the only country to have hosted both OSF and JOSF.
FUN FACT: After Greece (#1 Athens and #7 Thessaloniki) and Norway (#5 Oslo and #8 Bergen), Italy becomes the 3rd country to host the competition twice. 6 out of 9 contests have been held among these 3 countries, while the United Kingdom (#2 Belfast), Belgium (#3 Brussels) and South Korea (#6 Seoul) also hosted the competition once.
FUN FACT #2: Out of the 9 editions, only 5 were hosted by the previous edition's winner. (#1, Greece, no previous winner, internal decision. #5, Norway, previous winner withdrew, hosted by draw. #6, South Korea, previous winner also withdrew, hosted as #4's runner-up (after not hosting #5), and finally, #9, Italy, previous winner withdrew, #8's runner-up. (Had they hosted #6 as #5's runners-up, Italy would now be hosting the competition for the 3rd time!)).
That said, the theme art and running order as well as more information such as the host city, presenters and venue will be revealed together in a separate thread soon.
On a sidenote, I still need entries from 4 countries ( Belgium, China, the United Kingdom as well as a new entry from Germany).
Additionally, Albania and Australia, please post your entries in this thread alongside with a 25-second timeslot.
