Following the great success of Uzari and "Moj Vibe", BRTC has today confirmed that Belarus will be present for the 55th edition of Own Eurovision Song Contest, hosted in Russia. The Eastern European nation will be automatically qualified to the final for the occasion, after Uzari placed in 2nd with 186 - tying for the best ever Belarusian result in the contest.
"We are so excited by this era of success for our small country," a spokesperson for the broadcaster said in a statement this evening, "Since we returned from our one edition break, we've been in the final every edition, even placing in the top ten for four of those six editions. IT'S JOLENE SAMHAN FOR MALTA!
The young singer-songwriter Jolene Samhan is bringing a fresh taste of music to the world all the way from a tiny island in the Mediterranean called Gozo. Born and raised in Nadur with a Brazilian, Palestinian, German and Polish background, Jolene is definitely ambitious to produce a unique sound as she enters the music industry, bound to be one of Malta's strongest and loudest voices. Her first taste of producing music was through "Place" in collaboration with Micimago and Shaun Axiaq where she sang and wrote the lyrics for the track. This led them to win the Lovin Music Award for Best Dance Track 2019 while also being nominated for Best Song of the Year. The pandemic drove the singer indoors where she embarked on a journey of self-realisation, note by note, she started to experiment with constructing songs. Music flowed out of her like an unconscious stream: this was the birth of Jolene's first original song and OESC entry: "February 1st". The song was written and produced by Samhan herself, Matthew James Borg and Michael Joe Cini (both members of MTEAM, the #54 Maltese entry): a powerful pop piece with a lot of promise for Jolene's career and Malta's chances in Russia. "FEBRUARY 1ST"

Andorra withdraws, and I relinquish my role of head of delegation for Andorra, so someone else is free to claim it, my reasons for withdrawing are completely personal, mostly related to lack of free time to participate, and last edition is the first time I have missed a vote, and that is enough of a signal to me, that I cannot continue with this compromise, if I cannot be 100% attentive to my participation, I also want to thank the OESC team for the opportunity, I have been treated always with respect, and I have no problem with anyone, my withdrawal is completely due to issues only relating to me, and I dont want people to think there is any drama here, hope you have a succesful contest.

Slovenia announces their entry
After barely missing out the final last edition in Finland with David Amaro, RTV Slovenija has confirmed a few days ago that Slovenia will be continuing their Own Asiavision journey in Russia, also hoping to finally return to the final after multiple unsuccessful attempts. After approaching a number of performers and composers to contribute songs, an entry has been selected and the broadcaster is ready to reveal the act who will be heading to Russia.
Anabel (Ana Teržan) is a singer and music creator born in Celje, Slovenia. Having debuted in the 2017 PopRock festival of the RTV Slovenija-organised Dnevih slovenske zabavne glasbe, she was declared the winner with the song "Ob kavi" which went on to become one of the five most played Slovenian songs of the year for 26 consecutive weeks. Even though the Slovenian music scene recognized her as a repulsive, energetic, independent artist and an excellent vocalist, she still prefers to lock herself in a room where she writes lyrics and sets to music on guitar or ukulele. Following the success of "Ob kavi", she released two more songs "Pozitiva" and "Klic stran" in 2018. In the fifty-fifth Own Eurovision Song Contest, she will be performing the song "Mama", written by Anabel herself along her usual collaborators Marko Maag and Nino Ošlak.
