Belgian painting I decided to pick a painting of one of my favourite, and probably also one of the most known Belgian artists, René Magritte. René Magritte is a Belgian surrealist painter, who became well known for creating a number of witty and thought-provoking images. Often depicting ordinary objects in an unusual context, his work is known for challenging observers' preconditioned perceptions of reality. His imagery has influenced pop art, minimalist art, and conceptual art. I decided to go for the painting Les Amants II (1928) (English: The Lovers II). Frustrated desires are a common theme in René Magritte’s work. In this painting, a barrier of fabric prevents the intimate embrace between two lovers, transforming an act of passion into one of isolation and frustration. Some have interpreted this work as a depiction of the inability to fully unveil the true nature of even our most intimate companions. Enshrouded faces were a common motif in Magritte’s art. The artist was 14 when his mother committed suicide by drowning. He witnessed her body being fished from the water, her wet nightgown wrapped around her face. Some have speculated that this trauma inspired a series of works in which Magritte obscured his subjects’ faces. Magritte disagreed with such interpretations, denying any relation between his paintings and his mother’s death. “My painting is visible images which conceal nothing,” he wrote, “they evoke mystery and, indeed, when one sees one of my pictures, one asks oneself this simple question, ‘What does it mean?’ It does not mean anything, because mystery means nothing either, it is unknowable.” Keywords: desire, mystery, passion, incognito, disguise

Edvard Munch was a Norwegian painter. His best-known work, The Scream, has become one of the iconic images of world art. Which is also the reason i chose it, maybe the most iconic painting in the history of Norwegian art. Munch is also relevant these days after the opening of the new museum here in Oslo, so who else to pick besides him? True legend and talent. Kewords: Scream, anxiety, river, red, fear

Austria Marie Egner - Gänse und Enten am FlussuferKeywords: Nature, Water, Birds, Life, Calm etc.
During my search I found this artist who I didn't know before, she seems to have been one of the most relevant Austrian painters around 1900. Most of her pieces are about landscapes or flowers, her style is mostly painting in oil and aquarelle. I like her style and this is one of my favorite paintings from her

I guess that's because of the theme, but right now it's pretty sparse with the sign ups There are many reasons for this. There is still a lot of time and since there is no player limit, there is no rush. For some reason people like to wait as long as possible (not all of course).

I find that very weird since Retro Wwwsc is normally not exactly known for that. Anyway, I'm scared of this already since this looks like a very hard theme to get me songs for.
