LAST CONFIRMATION REMINDER
CONFIRMATION DEADLINE: 6 February (today!) SONG SUBMISSION DEADLINE: 20 February You have one more day to join USoS 2022 as the representative of a state in the contest! We will begin reviewing the songs we've received for the states that are already confirmed by people and sending the list of songs we've received for your state. If you confirm with a state, you have two options after 6 February: - Pick a song from the songs sent to you, or - Propose a song to committee (Derek, Chante, and myself) for approval. Two of the three of us have to say yes. If you choose to send your own song and it is approved by Committee, only then can you share it here in this thread. Do not post songs until they are approved!!I should also mention that although the song submission deadline is 13 February, I'll probably leave the form open for a bit longer than that until I feel like we've sufficiently covered all the states and as much of the territories as we can. There are around 10 states/territories left that we don't have a song for yet (the usual suspects like ND and WY ) If you plan to do a song selection and hold a vote, all songs must be reviewed and approved. You can then create a thread in the USoS directory. The selection must be finished by the end of March. We still have a lot of time - the deadline for posting all entries is 31st March!

SONG SUBMISSIONS CLOSED. After extending them a week, I closed the form on Monday. Weeee! The Committee will now share with those who confirmed the songs we received, so you can choose a song. If you confirmed with a state, you have two options right now: - Pick your favorite song out of the songs sent to you, or - Propose a song for committee (Greg, Derek, Chante) approval. When you get at least two Yes replies, you can post the song in this thread. I will send you your entry's unique banner (see the Theme post for more information!) If you post without permission, I'll delete your post, sooo.... don't do that. If you're wanting to do a selection for your state, that's cool too, we just have to make sure all the songs fit the rules. If it sounds like a lot of steps, it's really not. You have a lot of time - the deadline for choosing & posting your song is March 31st. STATE SONG SELECTIONSNext will be the State Song Selections. Every year we have the community vote on the three largest states + the host entry ( California, New York, Oregon, and Texas). I am hoping to kick these off by the beginning of March. There may be other state selections going on as well. Rumor has it that there will be ones for North Carolina and Michigan too... Lastly, starting in March we will begin announcing this year's participating songs for the other states and territories. So stay tuned! Things will be getting underway very soon ^v^

After 6 years of Eastern Michiganders singing in the contest, it's high time to bring in a Westerner into the contest for the Great Lakes State. Although Detroit is a hub for music in the densely populated Southeastern region of the state, the western half of the state has so much diversity that needs to be shown. 6 years, and no Westerners, that needs to be changed. So who's going to be the one to set this new precident? There’s been no signs of stopping So I’ll sound the alarms Meet: Lipstick Jodi ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ●Lipstick Jodi, the representative of Michigan in the 2022 Edition of United States of Song
Lipstick Jodi is an indie alt-pop trio from Grand Rapids. The group was founded by Karli Morehouse (they/them) in 2014, but the original members outside of Morehouse left in 2018. Andy Fettig and Connor Middlebrook ended up joining the outfit through word of mouth, and the group has solidified their glittery synth-pop sound in time for their second album. Raised on ’80s icons like Prince, Cher and Pat Benatar, Morehouse’s songwriting is imbued with nostalgic synths and infectious melodies, as is evident on the tracks of their new album, such as “Take Me Seriously.” Marrying their power pop instincts with a desire for inclusivity, Morehouse’s lyrics are intentionally vague, leaving room for people to imbue the song with their own meaning. “They’re specific to me, but… they’re kind of vague statements that can give whoever is listening something to hold on to,” said Morehouse in an interview with fellow Michigan State Selection participant Sara Marie Barron. The group won the nf with 4 votes, one more than fellow West Michigan indie pop darling Ada LeAnn. This marks the third time a member of the LGBTQIA2S+ family has represented the mitten, as Jax Anderson (formerly Flint Eastwood) and Givhan (formerly Jaye Prime) are both a part of the family. Karli, Andy, and Connor have only one thing that they want you to do/SAY

Tennessee Ivory Layne"Celebrate"RV: here "Celebrate" won the state selection and will represent Tennessee in USoS 2022!About the artistIvory Layne began songwriting at the age of six and taught herself music production during teenage years. Her music got the attention from award-winning producer Ed Cash, who wrote together to produce her first EP, Volume One. This led to her signing with LBK Entertainment, who would be producing her latest EP, Confetti.About the song"Celebrate" is a song about one's bitterness that a desirable outcome has not been achieved. It also reflects the nature of intensive comparing nowadays, where everything is compared and being given success ratings, which can be detrimental to one's mental health.
