Bitta Pill: Kenya's Song Race Season One: Episode One "Play The Hits, Dan"
In the first challenge I was given the task of choosing a song that raised awareness of mental illness. For this theme I have chosen the following song, "Dead Boys" by Sam Fender. This is a very powerful song about male suicide and how the culture of toxic masculinity ends up contributing to poor mental health. Suicide is the number one killer of men under the age of 40, and I feel that it is a very important issue to highlight, especially seeing as it is an issue that is very personal to me.

CLAMYDIA WEEK 1 CHALLENGE: Play the Hits, Dan: Sing For Your LiveBeyoncé - I Was Here (United Nations World Humanitarian Day Performance Video) Clammentary of the Song Choice:" I was going for a strong vocal, a emotional song that is delivered brilliantly live and a message. My first thoughts were Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey but wanted to go for something modern (mostly because of the sound and video quality), so I picked what I thought is the one of the biggest and the best contemporary vocals and performers, miss Queen B, Beyonce. When I think of a live that I honestly remember so much as a kid, it's her performance of I Was Here at the United Nations. Even today when I listen to it, with the movie in the back and her vocals field with honestly and emotion, I fight back my tears. I feel like it's a perfect song in the times we are living in with evil, unkindness and darkness all around us. This pandemic as well as recent social issues we have been facing made us believe that it's time to do something, to really help people around us, no matter of our differences and that in this time and age we are all equal, in life and in death. So this is my entry for this race, my first stepping into the room. No matter what happens and what will be the impression of the judges. I am proud of this and this is an entry I can be proud of leaving this competition. Though that being said, hopefully that won't be the case x"

Kenya's Song Race S1: E1- Play the Hits, Dan
(Season 5: Episode 8 - Its Time for Africa - Send a song from an African artist)
Who is ready for an African Bop
The song that I have chosen for this challenge is Zuga by the Band SHiiKANE.
SHiiKANE - ZUGA
The band SHIiiKANE are a 3 piece Girlband who were born in Nigeria and raised in London but moved back to Nigeria when they grew-up. The group is formed of twin sisters Shay and Annamay, and their younger sister, Kay
"Zuga" is a modern Afro-Dance track that has African flare throughout the song through the beat, singing and instrumental. The lyrics are very Infectious and gets stuck in your head (at this rate we will all be "move to the left hand side" for the rest of our lives lol!).
The name "Zuga" means to get excited and get up and dance! We see this in a lot of African culture especially in tribes where they showcase different tribal dancing for different events, that could be weddings, parties, or in this case a festival!
One line of Lyrics that gets stuck in my head is at the beginning of the song. "I'm with my Empire". Showcase the tribal stance in this song where they have all their dancers showcasing traditional dance wanting everyone to celebrate and have fun but with the SHiiKANE modern twist!
This showcases Africa in a very modern way, through the music, dancing and fun. With SHiiKANE slaying us with this Bop at the same time!
