These results are provocative.
A "..." for a NQ means I don't care enough to comment on those songs. For the Qs that got the "...", I do not want to comment... yet. It's not a guaranteed negative tho.
SF1:
Okay qualifiers.
...
Anton, this is making Rontti look foolish considering his NQ record with Kazakhstan before he switched to India. Deserved qualification though.
Fra, you're lucky I prefer to penalize the user, not the song. This song deserves to qualify so much! <333
A grower. Good qualifier.
BANGER. Would be a shame to not have you be a part of the final.
Great qualifiers.
----------
Seriously? This song is better than last edition's entry and this is the one to NQ for Ukraine. This song is good enough to qualify. Shame on you all.
Alas, it's MishCatt's weakest song I've heard yet.
I thought this could've qualified. It's good.
This struggled to stand out.
It's alright at first listen, but it's EDM that's been heard before.
I struggled to remember this song, so I had to look it up. The song itself is alright, but not final-worthy.
Aww... I enjoyed this. Very unique in a good way relative to the rest of the semifinal.
...
Definitely went somewhere, but it didn't go far enough to stand out.
Now THIS is a shock. I thought this was a shoe-in to qualify. It's a Portuguese-language bop from Finland!
SF2:
Yes! One of the best Croatian entries in a while. Deserves to qualify so much.
So hot- I mean... great qualifier!
I rarely fall in love with Bulgarian bops, so this is a pleasant surprise. Deserved qualification!
...
Strong, impactful banger. Good qualifier.
For me, a surprise qualifier.
Decent qualifier.
Another proof that you don't need a replacement video. The song itself is definitely final-worthy.
----------
...
It had promise. It could've gone either way.
I think it's underrated. It's interesting and impactful, although a little too early considering the subject matter.
Nah.
Honestly, I'm okay with the NQ. Sure, there was hype and I was attached to the song, but I was not attached enough that it would break my heart. Thank you to the folks who voted, especially the stans. I'll let you all "pop off" in my behalf.
I'm not used to William NQing in any contest. It's so unusual. He has great taste, so this NQ is a rare misstep. Out of the recent Irish entries, I thought this was among the better ones.
SF3:
Great qualifiers!
YAS. Always a treat to see Austria qualify in NNMC.
Sylwia, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is your first qualification with Sweden? If so, it's a strong one at that. Congratulations!
To me, a surprise qualification.
I decided it was your turn to be called as the very last this time, Niall. Hope you don't mind. Oh, and congrats.
----------
At first, I thought I was gonna be blown away. It wasn't the case. Too monotonous.
This should've qualified.
It definitely went for that epic vibe... what it failed on is hooking the listener.
...
Carly, sweetie... I like... the music video. But the song is soooooo middle of the road.
I was informed that I had butchered the translation for the title of the song, so I want to apologize for that mistake and thank glasib for the correction.
Sadly a downgrade from last edition, but it's not garbage.
You get points for trying something different. A jazzy Chinese song is not something you hear often, so kudos for that.
flagarg- Cute, kinda camp. Didn't see it qualifying.
And now...
I AM UPSET! This is one of my favorites of the edition. For starters, I didn't expect Claudia Pascoal to release a song of this type and caliber. Never did I think she could give me something so amazing and so intense to listen to. It's so dark, edgy, and fascinating. I don't often feel a song, but I felt this. In my opinion, one of the biggest robberies of the year... maybe even in NNMC history. I'm blowing this out of proportion, so maybe that all-time thing is hyperbolic, but I still do think it's one of the best songs this edition, meaning it deserves to qualify, but you all robbed her of that opportunity.
I'll get over it.
This Grand Final is going to be jam-packed with taste, talent, and competition. I cannot wait to see how this turns out! (holds up opera glasses over my eyes)
