But for all you miserable sods who don't know how to have fun, I'm afraid you're REALLY missing the point of all this. Let me quote the slogan: Building BridgesA bridge from Austria to Australia.

omg holy crap everyone just calm down! The original point of Eurovision was to be a FRIENDLY GATHERING of nations after World War II; Eurovision was not made to actually start wars. It's the 60th Anniversary and a way to celebrate by including the country with the most Eurovision fans out of Europe. We probably get more excited about Eurovision than many other countries that are actually in the contest itself Plus, we've been broadcasting it for way longer than a ton of Eastern European countries, many of which have won already, and it's not like we're hosting if we win or anything; it's still going to be IN Europe. I think people are blowing this way out of proportion. What's the problem? We have a new country competing! Woo hoo! But for all you miserable sods who don't know how to have fun, I'm afraid you're REALLY missing the point of all this. AGREE people should really stop to find arguments why it is bad that Australia joins Eurovision it's probably only one time ( I would like to see them permantly in the contest tbh ) I like the fact Australia get's this chance after so many years of just watching and I hope that they will send an amazing entry ( what they will do I'm sure )

the band Mumiy Troll, which represented Russia in 2001, origins from the city of Vladivostok which is situated more eastern than nearly half of Australia, so well Omg! So is the thing also broadcasted all over the country in that case? I thought only the European part of Russia plus a bit of the Asian one.
