After the celebrations for Latvia's birthday was over, the Baltic country revealed that they are going to appear in the 12th edition. A new format for the selection is under development.
The early ideas for the format are leaked and nothing is confirmed by the HoD nor the Broadcaster yet.
but it seems like the show will have 24 songs but instead of having 2 semi finals it would now have 3 Pre round.
So 8 songs participating in each pr, 2 songs would be chosen by the jury only, thus the ns would bring back the Jury and Televote system. The Juries would get the songs from each pr, and they would vote before a public show, so eventually 6 songs would compete for the remaining 2 places in each pr. Televoters will take part only in the public events, and their votes will get combined with the jury votes forming the remaining 2 songs to be selected by both the jury and the viewers.
Totally there would be 12 songs in the Semi Final. In the Semi Final all songs will participate to qualify to the Final where 4 of them will qualify.

 Ireland confirms!... however The head of musical programming at RTΓ, RΓ³rdan Diarmaid, has resigned from his position due to an unnamed controversy, leaving in his place Bethany O'Riorden - who's voiced her dislike of NVSC in the past - to be acting head of musical programming. It is suspected, though not confirmed, O'Riorden will be taking money away from NVSC, rendering an NS impossible (though the fact that the decision to join was made before Diarmaid's exist means, Ireland will without doubt be taking part). |
