(Some other songs are more like 'I know lots of people might like this and it's okay to me', though there are also songs here that only I will love. ) No one here is really familiar to latvian artists (maybe only Kazzuchi (NVSC) and Laurinda), except me ofc, because I come from Latvia Yes, these 2 songs are really great and prove that ballades is a strong music genre in Latvia (also rock music and schlager is really good). The first one is still my only victory with Latvia in any of the contests, but the 2nd one was really underrated in IMF #3 final (19th) imo. You're not the first one to say that any of the latvian songs is calming (some people from WWWSC said that about this song: www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOMHqIs7xxc ). Latvian music isn't that bad if you really start listening to it more (you can ask both users I mentioned) - it's different (because we have different mentality), that's why most of europeans don't understand it at the first listen. (We even have a song in latvian that's called "Europe won't understand us" - it's more like a joke song, but it has something very true there also). Thank you Shovkovskyi/Peter! Will keep that in mind for sure. And that song you mention is indeed calming to me too. I remember not understanding Latvian music at first, like most people I guess, but it is really worth the listening if you are looking for some beautiful music.  |
