Random comment of the day: We don't have something against the group, but the song they're singing.

I think this was a big mistake Finland just made! And I'm not talking about the song, although it's not something special either. The biggest mistake was to let people with genetic disorder (and maybe even some other disability) to participate in a contest between people without any of these disorders or disabilities. I'm not saying that people with disorders can't sing, dance or do whatever normal people do, but not in a contest like this, where participants actually compete for the first place and represent their country. It would be ok, if people with disabilities would have their own contest - I would understand that. But this is just insane. I guess there's no other way nowadays to be different in ESC - there were men dressed like women and other way round, there were bands like Lordi, there were changing outfit on stage, there were way more things, which wouldn't be original anymore, so this is a new "originality" in this show. And all I can say is - where this world will end? I totally disagree. If you seperate people and treat the differently because who they are then they will be labeled as freaks when they're not. There are many musicians with Down syndrome that can make amazing music but holy crap this is terrible. I don't exactly seperate them. As I mentioned, this is a contest. And a big one! Where else have you seen people with mental disorders take part in a contest between "normal" people? I've only seen people with lack of a part of their body like leg or hand. But that's different, because they're mentally like other people, including us. And I haven't said that people with disoreders couldn't sing or dance or do whatever, also they can participate in contests. But then you have to rate them different, because it's impossible to rate person with disorder and a "normal" person objectively (in objective rating person with disorders will always lose, if he really (and I mean really) isn't a better singer or something like that). It will be a subjective rating, but objective rating in normal contests and competitions is the one that decides the winner. If a subjective rating selects the winner, then it's not as normal competition should be. Then it's a gift to people with disorders. I don't have anything against people with disorders, but I don't agree that they should participate in this contest.

It's remarkable they're sending people with Down's, but it only makes the song look like a sympathy act. Still not the worst song though. Being autistic, I respect people of all disabilities whether physical or mental, but using them as a novelty act in Eurovision just seems... like a horrible decision. As long as the group enjoy it, then... I dunno But the song is still full of crap

LOL
I get so sick of some of your reactions. Some of you blame them for the lyrics, some of you blame them for the fact they're participating in this contest... do you think they've choosen to be like this? Do you think they wanted to look like how they look like? Of course not but still they do what they like (making music) and if they like to participate in ESC, then I'm so happy to see they don't take a step back just because people don't understand their disabilities and due of that would rank them low. I have ADD myself. When I was 6 I used to go swimming in a pool where swam children like these band members. My best friend was deaf so I couldn't communicate with him by words but still he was my best friend. How come? Because these people have feelings and emotions like we all have. About disliking the song I disagree so much with you all. Because it's hardcore rock? However rock/metal never gets well received in song contests so I think that's a case of personal taste. I really like this song because I love rock. I really hope Finland will win this year. They prove they can be original instead of sending that idiotic "Marry Me" song. Maybe they could bring some more respect for disabled people in this world as the Austrian representative brought also some more respect for transsexual people in my opinion.

Just to speak for myself: I don't care of they are disabled or something. I don't see any reason why they shouldn't take part, I just don't like the fact they will get many sympathy votes although this kind of music isn't that popular. If the song was good, I wouldn't have a problem that they take part but I don't want that some people just vote for them because they are disabled. The german public also just voted for Conchita because she's something special and not for her song. After that, "Calm after the storm" was WAY more successful in the charts. And I also think, that most of the people here don't care about who they are, they just don't like the sympathy votes. And no, I don't like it because it's punk or rock, I also love "Hardrock Hallelujah". This song is just so boring and not good to me. But it's not because of the band, it's because of the song

I would be pleased if they would get voted out of sympathy as some of the reactions in this thread prove people don't know enough yet about disabilities... someone on here even suggested to create a contest where people like the members of this band could participate like wtf that's just discrimination.

Until discrimination against disabled people will stop these kind of entries shouldn't be send anymore. But as there are still many people who don't even know the basics about being disabled it will be a good move to ask for more attention for it. Maybe due to ESC, maybe due to other ways.
