Albania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016

1 - ERGA HALILAJ - "MONOLOG"
My girl Erga You did it last year, and you've done it again Despite the fact is dated (like 99% of FiK's songs so I'll push that aside) it does what most of the songs don't - and that's BUILD throughout the duration of the song. It gives a lasting impression, and although it features the dreaded guitar, it for some unknown reason doesn't throw me off the song. It's beautiful, amazing, fantastic, spectacular, charming, dramatic and emotional! While I can't see this winning, I can see it being a dark horse and giving frontrunners like Flaka Krelani a run for their money. I believe in you Erga, please win 3

2 - BESA KRASNIQI - "LIROJE ZEMREN"
This song is beautiful and delicate, but as the same time it packs a punch in the chorus that tells you it's a force to be reckoned with. I absolutely adore this song and I want it to win, and I won't be surprised if it wins. Just like Enxhi Nasufi's song, I fear greatly the orchestra will slaughter this song to the point where it's beyond salvaging. I don't have the strength to see one, yet alone two of my favourite songs in FiK get destroyed by the orchestra.

3 - ENXHI NASUFI - "INFINIT"
I really like this song. I really do. It's one of the better songs this year, but to be honest it sounds kind of cheap and tacky (but a FiK song can never truly be modern, can it? ). Unfortunately I think this is going to be one of the songs that may be destroyed by the live orchestra, but we'll see. Enxhi has a good voice so provided the orchestra doesn't slaughter the music, this is a song to watch out for.

4 - SIGI BASTRI - "ËNGJËLL I LIRË"

Okay the first thing I have to point out is that the name Sigi Bastri sounds like an Albanian pastry

This song builds excellently and the more I listen to this song, the more I like it. The chorus is amazing and she is a fantastic singer with an amazing vocal. I find myself secretly rooting for this song, and I can definitely see this being a contender for victory. It sounds very emotional - what a great song.

5 - ENEDA TARIFA - "PËRALLË"
It has the classic FiK guitar, but a miracle has occurred because for once, it actually works! For me, the first time I heard it, I thought it was good, but by no means great. It has grown on me drastically, I now find it a great song. Eneda sounds very sassy as if nobody should mess with her, and I like it a lot. The chorus has a strong vocal and I am positive that this song will be a contender for victory, and I would not complain if it does.

6 - Aslajdon Zaimaj - "Merrmë që sot"

It comes across as one of those songs that has so much going on that it shouldn't work at all, but it actually does. It's easily one of the most modern songs this year, it's uptempo and while at some points it does lack some vocal power. My fear is that the orchestra will destroy will destroy this live.

7 - Lindi Islami -"Për një mrekulli"
Alongside Aslajdon, Lindi is the only male soloist whose song I can actually tolerate. It has a gentle tone and it sounds very delicate but very nice. It's just pleasant to listen to.

8 - Teuta Kurti - "Në sytë e mi"

The song up until the bridge is really good. After that, she tries a little too hard to showcase her vocal range and it ends up becoming a borderline screech-fest. I hope she doesn't screw it up and overdo it live, because this is a good song with potential.

9 - Orgesa Zaimi - "Një shishe në oqean"

Listening to this song, I am getting the vibes of salty sea water and pirates on a ship. In my opinion, it reminds me of 'Senhora do mar'. It's as if it's a less intense, stripped back version of it. I like this song because not only do I enjoy the sound of an accordion being played at almost any time, the song builds at the right time and it's just different. For me, the song is a little monotonous and drags out a little too long. Still, it's a nice song to listen to.

10 - Flaka Krelani - "S'je për mu"
This song is good, but everyone seems to love it, and I only like it. Am I missing something here? She gives a good vocal in the chorus, but she has a damn spoken word in the song and it just sounds so.... average. Average but in a good way. Please tell me if I am missing something, because everyone else seems to be going bonkers about the song. It seems to be the favourite to win, but I hope it doesn't because there are better songs.

11 - Jozefina Simoni - "Një det me ty"
It's an okay song. It's nice to listen to and it's definitely better than a lot of the songs here. But it is very monotonous and it doesn't leave a large impression. Still, it easily outdoes most of the songs here.

12 - Rezarta Smaja & Klodian Kacani - "Dashuri në përjetesi"
An outdated ballad - too outdated for my liking. It's unfortunate however, because this song really showcases the duo's vocals, and they are truly fantastic. I have a feeling this is going to do very well, but as long as the revamp for Eurovision is nice to them, I won't mind this winning.

13 - Adrian Lulgjuraj - "Jeto dhe ëndërro"
It's nice. That's pretty much it. It doesn't go anywhere and it is really middle of the road. I don't see this lighting up the scoreboard.

14 - Niku & Entela Zhula - "Muza"
It's a pleasant song to listen to, and it's feel good. It'd struggle at Eurovision, but I don't think they have to think that far ahead because I can't see this winning, yet alone getting to the final.

15 - Nilsa Hysi - "Asaj"
I tried really hard to like this song because there's something about it that is really likeable. But I just can't. The chorus is really repetitive, but it still outclasses a majority of the songs taking part.

16 - Revolt Klan - "Dashurinë s'e gjejmë dot"
I don't really like this song because it's got that awful spoken word, but everyone seems to love it on YouTube as it's got over 20,000 views. It's one of the better entries at FiK but by no means amazing.

17 - Dilan Reka - "Buzëqesh"
For me, this song is a guilty pleasure. It's another typical outdated FiK song, but it has a certain charm that makes it sound really cute. This will probably be one of those songs that does better than everyone expects it to do not because everyone thinks it's terrible, but because there are a lot worse entries.



18 - Evans Rama - "Flakë"
Another terrible, outdated FiK songs featuring the infamous guitar. The song is no good by any means but it is a lot better than most of the songs of the same type. Why are only the women bringing their A game to FiK?

19 - Kozma Dushi - "Një kafe"
You know, France's age limit on their interal selection this year doesn't seem so bad after all.....

20 - Luiz Ejlli - "Pa mbarim"
Once again, we have two of the three qualities of a typical FiK song prevalent in this song: Outdated and unforgettable. Thank you Luiz for not including a guitar. I have heard enough of those in a lifetime. That's the only reason you've gotten a somewhat decent placing.

21 - Klajdi Musabelliu - "Ndodhë edhe kështu"
Once again another outdated song. I guess this song is considerably better than most of the other outdated songs in FiK, but that's only because it doesn't feature the dreaded guitar.

22 - Egert Pano - "Mos ik"
This song is monotonous, boring and doesn't go anywhere. It sounds like one of those songs that plays soothingly in a coffee shop or as you're put on hold over the phone on a customer service line and they play music as you wait - one of those songs you'd enjoy sipping a coffee over friends with, but not a song you'd actually listen to. It's basically a filler song that will perform before or after a good song, and what do you know? It does exactly that!

23 - Egzon Pireci - "Triumf"
Once again, another outdated and forgettable song. The chorus is the only part that you'll probably remember, but not in a good way. It sounds really shouty to the point where it's uncomfortable to listen to.

24 - Andi Tanko - "Dielli vazhdon të më ngrohë"
It's an instantly forgettable song that features the dreaded FiK guitar. Next please.



25 - Voltan Prodani - "Dëgjoje këngën o atë"

Boring song? Use of guitar? Male vocalist? Get out.

26 - Simbol - "Artiste"
Wtf is this.... It's awful. Worst of all, it's actually not the worst song!

27 - Genc Tukici - "Sa të dashuroj"
Outdated. Terrible. Get out. This a was actually so forgettable I forgot to write about it

28 - Renis Gjoka - "Ato që s'ti them dotë"
When he started singing, I immediately thought "oh no". He sings in that tone that just turns me off the song. As the song goes along, it also starts to introduce the dreaded guitar, and then it gets given a DAMN SOLO. GET OUT!

29 - Florent Abrashi - "Të ndjek cdo hap"
This is absolutely terrible. He does with this song what most rock singers do and sing in that weird sounding uncomfortable tone. This is dreadful.

30/LAST - Kristi Popa - "Ajo cfarë ndjej"
There is an awfully minute long intro before he even starts singing, and that alone is awful. That coupled with the fact this song drags on for five minutes irritates me a lot. It's also forgettable, boring, drags on for too long and goes nowhere. This song is not as bad as some of the others but those reasons above are why this song gets my last place. The only positive I have about this song is that it doesn't feature a dreaded guitar.
