Mexico obviously confirms!
My second entry actually has a huge background story, but
if you want to go directly to the entry, well, just open the spoiler So, when I was around 4 or 5 years (in 2002) there was one Mexican reality show called ''La Academia'' (The Academy) about singing. The concept was pretty simple, there were 16 ''students'' that would sing each week, and one would be eliminated each week too. All 16 lived together the rest of the week to work their voices with music teachers. It became a huge hit in Mexico.
Either way, I had my favorite, by that time I barely knew what music was, but still I'd pick Myriam Montemayor as my favorite singer from there. Probably what I liked from her was the drama she put in her performances, like if she personally felt and wrote the songs (all of them were covers). My whole family didn't like her that much because she ''screamed'' iinstead of singing.
So yeah time passed, and it turned to be that Myriam won the reality
I was way too happy for that, like if my country won Eurovision hehe. My little family couldn't belive I actually picked the winner when, well, my music knowledge was none.
After that win she released an album, my sister got it for me (CD format obvs) for my birthday next year (2003) and I repeated it almost everyday, my sister would sing with me too
. I have no idea where that album is right now, last time I saw or heard it was at least 10 years ago.
And now, thanks to Retro WWW song contest, I got to bring all these memories back, I got the album on Itunes recently, and because of the lack of good quality videos on youtube for the songs in it, I personally uploaded it.
The song I chose for it was my favorite one as a child, and I'm staying loyal to it, SO THE SECOND MEXICAN ENTRY IS:
Myriam Montemayor - El Me Mintió The title would translate into
He Lied To MeThe English lyrics are here below, translated by myself
With The Heart Torn Apart
And the face wet
I'm so wretched
I'd like to die
Lies, they were all lies
Words to the wind
Only a whim the kid had
He lied to me
He told me he loved me
And It wasn't true
He didn't love me
Never loved me
He let me love him
It was a game and nothing else
It was just a game from his cruelty and vanity
He lied to me
With all the love we swore
There was never nothing
I was simply one more that loved him
