RΓV has confirmed that they haven't made a decision regarding participation just yet, which means anything is possible - confirmation or withdrawal.
While Iceland will likely confirm as always, we will await the results of semi final 2, where KarΓ³ is participating - hopefully to qualify to the final after another non qualification.
Should KarΓ³ qualify RΓV will definitely confirm but if not, the broadcaster will still await the voting grids.

 THE PORTUGUESE NATIONAL SELECTION
Portugal will hold a bigger national selection than usual, also the first one since #30 not called 4Portugal! The name has been specified under 'Γ Portuguesa I.' and will most likely be a one-time event.The selection will feature eight completely different songs with completely different sounds.
This is what the eight songs have been described as:
I. A slow hymn of peace and unity
II. A happy soul/jazz song
III. A female funk-hip-hop project
IV. A hymn-like fado-electro-pop mix
V. A powerful rock ballad
VI. A fresh summer-ish latin dance song
VII. A calm love ballad
VIII. A catchy modern, electronic-indie song
The selection will feature two former IMF contestants, both winners of 4Portugal, as well as one former 4Portugal contestant, placing second in it's respective edition.
Do you have guesses on who the songs/artists might be?

  Irish participation in doubt
RTΓ announced on June 4,that the irish participation is on hold and not sure yet.The Head of Delegation, Mr George le GrΓ‘ Γ³,announced in an interview the irish future in the contest;
 We have to say,we are really pleased with our results the last 3 editions.I mean we had the chance to host the contest,and never missed the final.But there are some bigger problems right now for me,which can't make me say if I am able to carry on,been the irish HoD. We still,don't have something official, if we will leave or not the contest,but everything can happen. 
The Head of Delegation also stated that they lost their interest,and are not sure if the HoD wants to follow as the chief of the country.
An official answer will be made soon. |
