VOTING SIMILARITIES AND POTS
What are voting similarities?
Voting similarities are basically what they say: it is a percentage of how similar your votes are with every other country.
They show you whose tastes you are most associable with and who is more likely to vote for the same songs.
How are they important?
In other ventures, they are commonly used to determine pots - which are mostly used for semifinal allocations.
This ensures that people with the same taste are more spread out in each semifinal ensuring a fairer result and a more unpredictable result in the semifinals.
How are they calculated?
Every single vote you have in common with another country is multiplied.
Let's say Country A gave 4 points and Country B gave 2 points to a song. This would give us a value of 8.
Every other vote they have in common is also multiplied. As a hypothetical example, Country A and B have accumulated a value of 144.
This number is then divided by 448, which is the maximum possible value you can accumulate from this calculation.
This will then give you (144/448) = 0.321, which is rounded to 32%! Quite simple!
Should you need the formula, please contact me!
Remember: the higher the number, the more similar your votes are with each other!
