Serving customers from Latvia today and the expression I got when I told them to have a nice evening by saying "lai jums labvakar!" with their reaction of " !! paldies! " Every latvian would be surprised to hear non-latvian speaking with them latvian That's a good way to get attention and raise your value in the eyes of costumer Just a little correction to what you said: correctly it would be "Lai jums labs vakars!", because if you say "labvakar!" as one word, then it means "Good evening!" - it's what we say to greet each other, when it's late... But if you say: "Lai jums labs vakars!", it will mean, what you already wrote - "have a nice evening!" Hey, but don't think you did something wrong - you did everything as translator said you, right? Translator not always translates everything correct, when it's about latvian language...

I actually got told that from someone on a translation site where we translate sentences etc, I'll have to let them know about that I'll make a mental note of the correction though ^~^
