 "Disparition", Yemeni photographer Bushra Almutawakel, illustrating how women could vanish into darkness and invisibility, step by step, under fundamentalist pressure. A powerful piece of artwork that can be seen in a number of different ways. I find myself a bit perplexed by those who say these women have a choice in this matter. Even a religious belief should always be questioned in the way you would question any written word and saying. All “holy” books are interpretations by men written by man. Some say their religious scriptures are given from a divine intervention. No matter if you believe in this, we should always keep in mind that the scriptures have passed from human to human and there's always been a touch of non-divine interpretation. In short, I think it's all about control and fear of loosing power. You oppress and deny freedom to control the other. Religion should be an option to enlighten our lives, not a code of torture and punishment to control people's lives, especially women. A faceless person is a non person." |

I have a headache and I have to do an assignment for Irish still in Microsoft Word.. and i'm just.. not into it now. Although, even if you forget it you're guaranteed punishment even if your excuse is good. Oh well, I'll start it soon |
