while I'm at it
MY SECOND CHANCE OPINION
Duel 1:
"In My Cabana" vs. "Cuba Libre"
Reason: I've honestly never liked "In My Cabana" ever since the snippet came out. It gives me "Hey Mamma" (Minaj) vibes, a.k.a. a build up with no real chorus. It just doesn't work for me.
As for "Cuba Libre", I actually adore this lmao. It's fun, it's catchy, Moncho's voice is dope and chill.
In a sea of repeating radio pop that literally sounds the same, at least "Cuba Libre" has the audacity to actually sound more tropical than the other bunches of hogwash in Melfest.
And yes, I can see Moncho beating Margaret, fite me.
Duel 2:
"All the Feels" vs."Never Learn"
Reason: I literally hate both songs fpsdkfådss fuck this.
Okay, so my only motive for preferring Renaida over Olivia is the fact that Renaida at least brings a show to the stage, while Olivia's song is literally not show material.
"Never Learn" is radio-friendly, but it does not work on stage at all. Her semi performance already proves this. Don't even argue that her standing still for several minutes, saying "ooh", while green dudes jump around was a "good" performance.
Duel 3:
"Every Single Day" vs. "Songburning"
Reason: I don't mind Felix's song, I can feel his emotions, but the song does absolutely nothing to me. No real "build up" towards a stronger feel.
Mimi, on the other hand, has a energetic countrypop song featured a lot of drums, and I enjoy it a lot.
And it was also past written by Miss Li. I CAN'T HATE THIS.
Duel 4:
"Patrick Swayze" vs. "Everyday"
Reason: Both. Their vocals. Suck.
This duel is basically duel 2, but with really garbage vocals. I like both songs, but I can't handle both being in the competition, knowing that both decided to skip vocal training for several weeks, mess.
But if I had to go with someone, I think I still have to go with Méndez. I find "Patrick Swayze" alright, but "Everyday" has at least more catchiness to it imo, even tho I find the last 20 seconds of the song to be really annoying.
In all honesty, I would just wish if both were eliminated instead, but eh.
I'm pretty sure that I would just skip the second chance next week, and instead focus on the other countries instead.
Really wish SVT didn't sink so low this year, ffs.
