Söngvakeppnin Sjónvarpsins to return!
RÚV has announced today that they will be holding a national selection for the 23rd edition of North Vision Song Contest, and thus bringing back the national selection "Söngvakeppnin Sjónvarpsins", which was used from the 7th to the 9th editions of NVSC to choose the  Icelandic acts.
The news was confirmed by the HoD ahead of the 1st semi final results - he stated that:
We have full intentions to host a national selection as many acts have already applied to participate in the 23rd edition and we believe it is too difficult to choose just one of the many singers and bands who applied!
RÚV hasn't stated much on how the NS will work, but it is quite likely that a similar format which was used in the 7th-9th editions will be used, however this time there will be no jury applications and instead the NS will be open for all NBU members and associate members.
The thread will likely be opened AFTER the first semi final results.

National Selection for #24?
After a few weeks of no news, rumours have been circulating around the internet in Iceland that RÚV has agreed to host a national selection for the 24th edition of North Vision Song Contest.
The rumours state that a new system will be put in place for the national selection - here there would be less songs but with more emphasis on unknown singers and songwriters. It also states that RÚV will be allowing countries around Europe to apply to become juries in the national selection and thus the televoting would be separate from the jury. It isn't known if RÚV has changed the name of the selection either.
However, after hearing these rumours the HoD announced that:
The rumours are quite interesting. However I cannot confirm whether or not these are true. RÚV has decided what to do for the 24th edition, but none of this info has been released to the public.
However it will be released shortly. Any delays related to this are because it took time to consider all options available to us and pick the most suitable.
RÚV will make the announcement on how they'll select Iceland's entry for the 24th edition next week.
