These are my ideas:
-The time slots of all the songs will start at 00:00.
-We will have to vote in a negative way, that is, the 12 points will go to the song that you like least, and so on. The song with the fewest points will win.
-The titles of the songs may only contain 1 word.
-All will have to choose two songs, but only the song that is chosen will participate (it will be chosen randomly)
-In the video clip of the songs should appear the colors of the flag of the corresponding country (the colors should appear in a considerable way) I like some of these like the start of the song and reverse voting

I don't have much ideas in terms of song themes as every time I think of one, I realized that not every country has the same luxury of a strong music industry or strong previous placements. The only suggestions I have relating to songs is:
- Send really bad songs, and then we vote on the worst song. Or send a troll song if "worst" is a convoluted criteria, and then we vote on the trolliest song.
- If the above idea is too convoluted, we can just send boring songs, and vote for the most boring song. At least with this criteria, it's more specific.
Now here's a crazy but feasible idea in terms of changing the format.
- There will be 10 pre-qualified countries (these countries being the top 9 of the previous edition + the person who suggests it, so me I guess if it goes through).
- We start the edition with the semifinals like normal. Voting goes on normally, ranking your top 10 and all that.
- Once voting is over, here's the twist: the top five of each semifinal directly advance to the final, but then the 6th-11th places of each semifinal will either: A) Go through a second round of voting to determine the last six finalists among the twelve. B) Six duels will be made depending on the semifinal placements of each country, meaning the 6th places of both semis will duel, the 7th places will duel, and so on. Basically six Wildcard Battles.
- If there's ties in the duels, we can... A) Be nice and let both advance anyway. B) The higher-scoring song in the semifinals will advance. And if somehow, they scored the same, they can both advance then.
So that means 10 AQ + Top 5 of SF1 + Top 5 of SF2 + 6 Duel winners = 26 finalists at a minimum. At a maximum, we would be pushing it at 32 depending on how ties go, but I hope the above ideas can help to minimize the number of finalists.
Some adjustments can be made with this format like reducing the number of pre-qualified countries, but increasing the number of duels or making it the Top 6 of each semi directly advancing instead of the top 5 and leaving the duels between the 7th-10th places.
- The Grand Final will go on as normal.

From anywhere in the continent? yes Sounds good. But then there still needs to be some restrictions on the amount of songs allowed from the same countries.

Ok, so here's a bunch of bad? ideas/thoughts that have come to my mind - Retro Edition (songs pre 2000s): This was posted before, so I just wanted to emphasize I approve of it, we almost never hear such old entries in this contest so that would be nice for a change, also it should work for every country and it's no real extra effort for neither host nor players, so the edition can run as a normal one. - Senior Edition: Junior Editions or contests we have often seen on this forum, but maybe a platform for older singers would also be interesting for once. As "Senior" you could take singers that were like 50+ or 60+ (debatable) when they recorded the specific entry. (or also 40+, considering we usually have very young singers in our contests) - National Stars (Credits to Laurinda who mentioned this to me): This could be about established singers in the specific country who've had a longer lasting career in their country (perhaps similar to the idea above in the end, would have to be defined a bit closer obviously) - Neighbor Edition: Each country has to borrow a singer/an entry from a neighboring country (or perhaps from a country that is geographically close, thinking of islands and microstates) - Alphabe(a)t: Each player gets a letter and has to send a singer/song which starts with this letter. Not sure if this is doable for all countries or with all letters, perhaps some letters would have to be excluded (like q or x) - Different Voting Format: Suggested this already the last time, but using a different voting could also make the edition interesting Maybe it can be combined with an actual theme like last time. Feel free to develop these thoughts in any direction If I come up with something else, I'll post it If any of these were already suggested, just take it as support

Anonymous/Incognito edition - everyone tries to send a song to "confuse" others. Non-Latin country sending a song in Spanish, or some other language that isn't usual for the country by potentially unknown artists. People could also send a "regular" entry for reverse psychology. The only way I can think of keeping everything anonymous is for the host to give other country names. Made-up country names, numbers, and letters would make it too confusing to vote. Example: Slovenia sends a song in Spanish, Gilberto gives my entry Costa Rica. People vote for Costa Rica, but it's Slovenia incognito. In the end, all identities are revealed. I think this would be interesting to try to guess which country could it be while voting. Especially if people get creative with the entries.
Local star - sending an artist with a lot of views on YouTube, but mostly known locally, or in specific countries. There have always been these artists with millions of views that I've never sent. Some are mostly known in my country only, while others reach the Ex-Yugoslavian market. This could give the incentive to send genres that haven't been sent before for the specific countries.
Soundtrack - everyone sends a song that was written for a movie, musical or was used in one. Not sure if this works for all countries though.

ferrygraf : Could you elaborate a little on the different voting system suggestion? The idea is very interesting, however I cannot take it if it's nothing in specific, maybe you can provide some ideas and we can develop them from there

Incognito edition is so far my most liked suggestion, would really be interesting to participate in such an edition

Another idea, kind of going off of Laurinda's, but it's a bit more straightforward.
- Anonymous Edition: Confirming submitting songs would be done discreetly, so via PM. Of course, everyone will still have their respective countries, but no one will know which song is for which country (unless it's known enough probably). You'll only have to go by the song to possibly get a hint of what it could be (perhaps a song you thought is from Portugal is actually Angolan/Brazilian). And then when it's time for the recap, only the running order number is known. Country, song title, artist, and video are hidden. Semifinals and Grand Final will run normally of course. In the semifinals results, the NQ countries will be revealed.
A typical voting PM may be:
Or if we really wanna be extremely discreet, we don't post anything at all, meaning no confirmation thread (or at least a locked one). There will still be threads to view recaps/WC battles, but they will be locked so no one posts. Everything will be done by PM. This could also protect the identity of the AQ countries. If we don't find out which countries are participating by the confirmation deadline, it adds to the excitement even more.
Maybe there can be an incentive to get your desired running order spot in the Grand Final (provided you qualify first) if you guess the most amount of song-country matches correctly.
And by the time the voting of the Grand Final is over, everything will be revealed.
