Denmark is like such a mess for the 4th year (?) on the row, I can't even act suprised anymore *5th time (imo everyone else since Emmelie was horrific.) Omg what did I just watch / listen? This is amazing. And hopefully one of the entries that just can't go wrong. The only thing I can criticize here is the fact that imo his voice is too high compared to everything else. So yeah ofc a from me.

So yeah ofc a from me. Well, both because I'm obviously just looking for likes. In reality I wasn't expecting too much as Denmark didn't impress me with their recent entries so I wrote the first comment. Then I actually listened and made the third one right afterwards.

"Higher Ground", as an entry, quite evokes the Nordic spirit, by using as influence the viking era. It starts rather calm and yet somehow imposing, but once with the background singers and the little key change in the chorus, it starts to become more epic and it catches you easily into the hook. The tribal elements also fit amazingly well, and in addition to that, the singer's voice works amazingly well, creating a very mythical atmosphere once with all the elements combined.
My point of view regarding this song? Let's say Denmark isn't among my ultimate favorite Eurovision nations, the last time actually loving their entry was 2007 (and not regretting it one bit). I wasn't really fond of DMGP as a selection either, as, let's say, most of their songs weren't my cup of tea. However, I gotta give them a shoutout for selecting this little gem this year. Rasmussen is an amazing singer, which knows how to convey the song properly. To top it off, the song is amazing, and I'm happy to see a viking-inspired song in the contest, it gives it a little bit of uniqueness in comparison with the other selected acts.
Good job, Denmark. Straight-up topping my list. And by far my favorite Danish song since 2000.

I can't believe Tormund Giantsbane is going to ESC! I guess he needs a well-deserved break after killing so many White Walkers. This was straddling between an 8 and 10 for me, but considering ESC standards, I gave it a for being a refreshing genre. It's been a looooong time (imo) since a Nordic country sent a strong entry that is distinctly Nordic (if we take languages out of consideration). At the same time, it's also given a contemporary twist. The entire song from beginning to end promises an epic journey and search for new found land. The production is so powerful without being aggressive. Rasmussen himself can sing very well live. There's no doubt it's better than last year's song. I would love to hear a metal version of this with the same vocals and somewhat different instrumentation.
