The rehearsals have started!
All seven competing artists have rehearsed their songs three times yesterday. A few journalists were allowed to watch and report about the rehearsals. I've read their articles and made a first prediction of the possible outcome of our NF on Friday (the songs will be released on Friday before the show):
All seven competing artists have rehearsed their songs three times yesterday. A few journalists were allowed to watch and report about the rehearsals. I've read their articles and made a first prediction of the possible outcome of our NF on Friday (the songs will be released on Friday before the show):
1st rehearsal: BB Thomaz – Demons
2nd rehearsal: Gregor Hägele – Let Me Go
3rd rehearsal: Aly Ryan - Wear Your Love
4th rehearsal: Makeda – The Day I Loved You Most
5th rehearsal: lilly among clouds – Surprise
6th rehearsal: Linus Bruhn – Our City
7th rehearsal: S!sters – Sister
- Song: very powerful RnB-ballad with a nice beat; similar to Emeli Sandé and Destiny's Child
- Staging: a big staircase and a trampoline (which "her demons" aka the background dancers are jumping on)
- Chances to win: medium
2nd rehearsal: Gregor Hägele – Let Me Go
- Song: simple ballad, similar to "You Let Me Walk Alone", powerful last chorus
- Staging: also very simple; he's alone on the stage
- Chances to win: low (the juries and the public might think this is too similar to Michael Schulte)
3rd rehearsal: Aly Ryan - Wear Your Love
- Song: powerful upbeat song, similar to Robbie Williams' "Candy", mixed with Ani Lorak / Loboda influences; very catchy and suitable for Eurovision in an "un-German way"
- Staging: she's walking on a treadmill and wears a bodysuit with projections like Wiktoria at Melodifestivalen 2016
- Chances to win: very high
4th rehearsal: Makeda – The Day I Loved You Most
- Song: classic ballad; nothing special; amazing vocals
- Staging: she's alone on the stage; in the end there's gold rain and fog
- Chances to win: low
5th rehearsal: lilly among clouds – Surprise
- Song: the most "unusual" and thrilling song; very dark in the beginning but it gets faster in the middle; she's like a German Loreen
- Staging: she's alone on the stage; the LED screen is an essential part of her performance; she's dancing
- Chances to win: high (I predict that this is going to be the forum's favorite )
6th rehearsal: Linus Bruhn – Our City
- Song: very modern and radio-friendly; the chorus is similar to JOWST songs, the verses are more calm and similar to Justin Bieber;
- Staging: he's on the stage with background dancers; nothing really special
- Chances to win: medium
7th rehearsal: S!sters – Sister
- Song: weak soul-pop ballad with a climax
- Staging: seems half-balked and a bit messy; doesn't fit to the song
- Chances to win: very low
My prediction:
All in all it seems like NDR is finally taking Eurovision seriously again. The songs are diverse and the stagings are more professional than in the past (let's not talk about Jamie Lee's laser trees). With another good result the Germans might take it seriously again as well (like in 2010 - 2012).
