Why can't you hold me in the street? Why can't I kiss you on the dance floor?

FRANCE SENDS... The duo that will represent France this time doesn't need a very long introduction. Lara Fabian represented Luxembourg at Eurovision for an epic vocal duel against the future winner Céline Dion. Jean-Philippe Smet (his father had Belgian roots) aka Johnny Hallyday became the most successful rock singer of the history of French music industry and passed away recently after a 57 year long career. The song Requiem pour un fou is one of his numerous classics. It has probably been inspired by the movie Le Jour se lève (also a big French classic by Marcel Carné with Jean Gabin and Arletty). The story is about a man trapped in his flat by the police waiting for the probably deadly final assault at dawn. The first version was released in 1976 but we chose the live version recorded in 1998 for his big concert at Stade de France before the World Cup and that can be found on Lara's double album Live 98. Due to the quality of the available videos, we will use a live TV version from the same year. Timeslot: 1:20Stade de France version (lower quality of sound and image):

His been a successful solo artist (in Switzerland as well as in France) for over 30 years now. Oh and before I forget he's actually a returning artist as he was part of the group Grauzone, I sent back in #25.

Samir Bagirov, the first openly gay singer since the independence of Republic of Azerbaijan will represent the in the 52nd edition with a song named "Axtarıram" (I am searching) He has contributed a lot to the LGBT empowerment in the arts in such a homophobic country. This song has been a part of my childhood, so I thought it would be nice to send it. For the recap, please take 2:22+ as a timeslot. Good luck to everyone!
