It’s one of those ultra-deep, artistic byproducts. Telemóveis literally translates to “Mobile phones” in English, and the opening line is something like, “I broke my phone - trying to call up to Heaven.” This explains his clothes, which look like some odd combination of cotton-dress cloud dress mixed with golden armor, tennis shoes, and other dynamic symbols. The mobile phone is used as a physical metaphor for everything from emotions, to metaphysical concepts, to philosophy and transliterations between messengers and users (via the phone). It’s so deep in meaning that it would be frightening to make this into an English song. I'm glad it’s staying in Portuguese. The song also includes flairs of Asian-influenced guitars and African rhythms, which doesn’t match the message of the song but makes it an entirely unique experience. I can safely say you’ve never heard anything like this before on the Eurovision stage. And keep note of the word ‘experience’; we will come back to it in a little bit. Guys, this is the exact type of song I should be loving this year because it’s worldbeat, it’s art pop, it’s ethno-influenced like Italy 2017 was, but somehow still feeling Portuguese (it’s probably the language though.) And it has meaning. And yet... I cannot fully latch on to this. I never remember how this song goes, no matter how many listens I give it, whereas "Amar pelos dois" had at least memorable musical patterns. The instrumentation in the chorus (?) is a bit off-putting, from the random female shout sounds to the dissonance of marimba noises. It’s like Osíris tried hard to compose something that meant a lot to him for similarly minded crowds to enjoy but that comes off as odd to average folk like us. I don’t feel the rest of Europe can go from watching Iceland’s insanity to Estonia’s feel-good pop to watching this, and somehow they will forget everything they witnessed in favor of Portugal - regardless of what he wears. So that’s why it’s an experience. I don’t get much from the song (not a good sign for jury votes), but it’s certainly the experience that Europe will be voting for. Whether or not your families enjoy the experience will determine whether this song qualifies.

Please respect my following opinion.
The song is trash. All it represents to me is two drug addicts half way through there high. It's disgusting. But then I thought Salvador is trash and look what happened.... But that's more about the man as I liked his sisters version better. Conan will get knocked out in the semi as he will get so forgotten. Iceland great staging, Estonia great effects and what does he have? A dancer off his tits and some plastic stuck to his face....shame after lasts years beautiful song and they send this....
