....well, what a mess. Fabbi, thanks for the tag. Some things need to be clarified. Let's debunk this situation created regarding the Kazakh confusion and C.C.Tay being Kazakh by nationality, shall we? (and that's coming from an half-Kazakh, by the way) 1. The Gakku TV thing: Gakku TV is literally our first music channel which airs content only made in Kazakhstan or by Kazakh musicians. If there happens to be some foreigners (let's say, Kyrgyz or Russians, it's not uncommon for either), they're usually in a collaboration with a kazakh artist. Literally Wikipedia explains it all. It's a reliable source for he Kazakh music industry especially when like 85% of the kazakh songs are basically there. 15% through other little channels which may focus on the folk side of Kazakhstan. 2: the VK thing. Considering the account hadn't been used since 2012, it's safe to say she changed her account. She's not so active on FB considering her last post there was on February 24th. However, her Instagram is often up to date, and has indeed her VK page, which isn't anymore that one Llemian linked. That one is up to date. Furthermore, Aigerim is natively from Almaty, basically saying we share the same hometown. As much as my basic geography goes, Almaty is the biggest city in Kazakhstan. 3: her age (I think that was the hottest one for debate): April 18th, 2000. That makes her 18 and perfectly eligible for the contest. You can find the link over here. Now is this enough evidence for approving this act? Because if you say to a Kazakh loud in their faces they're not their actual nationality as you keep on claiming, don't think you'll get away with it without any possible consequences, trust me. The fact that her music is uploaded to Gakku, is from Almaty and is signed under a Kazakh label should've made the job, and only the age should've put the question mark, not the nationality. I'm done with this, officially. And it's not the first time the nationality thing has been put up to question. Thanks for this. I'll just choose another entry to make the host happy, though I'm pretty dissapointed in the whole situation. But it does say there that she is born in Kazakhstan so is the entry accepted or not now? Don't change it. I get the disappointment, but wait for his answer. She is basically Kazakh through all the links, translations, videos and further proofs that me and the others which searched for her nationality (although considering she speaks, lives and her career is active in Kazakhstan), so there's no evidence saying she is not. In my personal opinion at least, the host has no rights to decline the entry considering the age is fine, the nationality is fine, we can't go all the way to the deep web to find stuff that's already obvious. I understand that the host must be sure of every aspect regarding the respective entry, but this went way too far. I'll get the age issue, but the nationality issue is already going way too far. Though if me, as someone which was native to Kazakhstan at one point can't convince her eligibility, than I have no idea who else could. This whole messy situation really wasn't needed in this case. Then again, I'm not the host of this contest.

With this Kazakh problem. I personally feel like this has been going on for way too long now even when we got our answer about 12-18 hours ago. C.C.Tay is obviously kazakh from the amount of research that went in to prove it.
At the end of the day it's not my decision but that's my personal take on it

I'm done with this, officially. And it's not the first time the nationality thing has been put up to question. The connection to Almaty seemed decisive in my opinion. I have no idea how big it is, but there is certainly a Kazakh diaspora over former USSR and potentially other countries in the world so we could potentially have a singer who can sing Kazakh but never lived in the country. And the funniest thing is that I spotted a Kazakh girl (Sabina Beyli) and wanted to send her to JMSC a few months ago and I discovered that the entry had already been used... for Russia (and the singer had absolutely no connection with Russia). So I understand that the host wants to avoid other mistakes like that in the main contest.
Checking the age of a singer is also often a pain in the a... especially when you don't speak the language of the country. But you can't avoid it, especially with a girl, even when she looks 20-ish.
There is indeed some diaspora in the former USSR nations, plus some other neighboring countries. Although there's not many Kazakhs which can sing in their native tongue and live in another country unless they were thought bilingual (and fairly enough, Russian is not uncommon in there) or in some rare cases being foreigners which learnt the language and gained popularity (like Son Pascal's case, born and raised in Italy, but which learnt the language after meeting other kazakhs in London and nowadays he has an extremely solid career in Kazakhstan). Also I thought Sabina was Azeri all along, guess I was wrong, but I learnt something today at least.
Like I said above, the age is understandable, even I had some time to find it. But the nationality is like finding the cookie cutter at a supermarket, it's really not that hard. Especially considering Kazakhstan doesn't have that many music channels to focus on. Then again, it's not my contest, therefore it's not my ultimate decision whether the act is accepted or not.

You're right actually I was thinking about Daneliya Tuleshova (I also spotted Sabina Beyli but I sent her to Your Sound Contest instead). I update my post.
