ok, salt aside, this IS slowly growing on me (the song was previously a 3, which isn't that big of a difference, but hey, it's smth)
the song was technically my pre-last of the selection, which does really sadden me that we missed out on some better tracks, but eh, shit happens, right?
back to the song, what initially made me not like it was that it was typical of its genre, which I mostly found rather generic, and to some extent boring, which I still apply to "Kemama".
I wasn't so fond of the singing style either, but I suppose that's rather typical of the genre, so I couldn't get smth else with the singing style without changing the whole song in the end.
however, the Vidbir performance did shine some new lights for me. the song works a lot better live, and that's one of the reasons I gave it some more points than initially given.
I've gotten quite used to the singing style, and the beat (the one from the start of the song), while it still feels generic, gave me some nostalgic feeling, which somehow made me like it more.
I still find the song to still be not my cup of tea, but the potential of it still growing on me during the next couple of week (or after the revamp) is definitely a possibility,
and at least I can respect that we'll get Afrobeat into Eurovision, which isn't smth we've seen (in a while?), and I am excited to see how he'll revamp the song in Kenya.
THEIR CHANCES: I initially saw this as a major struggle, but obviously, I may have been struck with a lot of bias, considering we lost a banger which is All The Blood,
but either way, this could have chances to reach the Grand Final (thinking mostly that it could be a borderliner, more or less),
but my feelings are mixed on whether this will be a song which could end up at like 23rd, or somehow sneak into a 8th place, which have happened a couple of times before
How "Kemama" will end up in Eurovision is gonna be one hell of a ride that I'm willing to experience. Hoping for the best of luck to both the Czech Republic & Benny at Rotterdam o/
