I think I already said in the theme art thread that I’m not a friend of the color scheme, and then there are many other small things that are annoying. The “deep” missing capitalization and dots (sorry Martin) or just any lack of flags. Or the fact that you need to wait 10 seconds until you know what country is currently playing. That doesn’t sound like a lot but I never said it was ugly, just (in my opinion!) not amazing. And what also might play into my critique is that NVSC and the people responsible for the design all did better jobs in the past. |

To be frank, there are some points that I agree on you with on the recap design. - One of those points is the idea of having to wait and let the viewer figure out for themselves for 10 seconds what country are we looking at, which is the biggest downfall of the recap design IMO. It succeeds at efficiently delivering every bit of information except for the name of the country. I wonder what the justification was for not displaying the country name upfront next to the song title/artist. - Since the theme both conceptually and aesthetically lean on the more experimental side, it takes on a risk of being arbitrary, convoluted, and confusing. I think the animation excels at keeping it straightforward, but I do see that in comparison to past recap designs, it is personally not in my #1. (#23, #24, and especially #25 tho  ) |

It's easy to disagree with the way this edition is going when having no insight in the making of it. This is not a perfect edition by any means, and maybe it was never meant to be. As the executive head of the design I take full responsibility for not delivering things that were highly anticipated like a thorough and wholesome concept being executed to the end - reason mostly being time related. I don't even have time to follow the smallest things about this contest anymore and most council members feel similarly: Jens was not able to do the recap when it was meant to be posted, I was not able to publish the design and theme when it was meant to be, and so on and so forth. Losing almost the entire council over the course of just a few editions, the council that was responsible for some of the most iconic designs on these forums - it just does not contribute to my personal morale anymore. It's genuinely not fun running a contest that has had its fair share of issues, this edition more than any before. defy through empathy.I'mma be blunt: I don't like petty one word statements like that and no one should have to live through them either, and if you were to receive such a post in our shoes you'd feel just as hurt. And this isn't even directed to you as an individual, Luca: the design is controversial, it's meant to be, but the way it has been justified to hate on it puts me off. Keyword 'pretentious'. I'm all in for constructive criticism which is hard to receive bypassing two corners to get the actual response. You managed to do that by now and I am grateful for it, and next time you might be able to do that in the first place. Hope you will enjoy the next design. Will give it my all! Thought of something low-profile, but let's see.  |
