WELCOME TO BURKINA FASO Ouagadougou - Welcome to
Burkina Faso for the fifth edition of The Sound of Africa.General Rules:
1. Entries from (Junior) Eurovision (Asia) Song Contest are not allowed to compete.
2. Covers are not allowed to compete.
3. Only one NVSC entry is allowed per edition.
4. Songs that came Top 3 in Africavision are not allowed to compete.
5. The song must have been released in 2010 or later.
6. You can compete with one eligible country or territory. You are not allowed to give points to your own country/territory.
7. If you don't vote, you will receive a warning. After 3 warnings you will be banned from the contest. If you need a replacer, ask publicly. If no replacement is found by the end of the voting deadline, the votes of two of your neighbouring countries will be combined. If you fail to vote, your vote will be replaced by two neighbouring countries votes combined.
8. Vote

9. Countries can only be reserved for one edition. After that you have to be the first to confirm in order to keep your country.
10. A song will only be accepted if you post/send a 20-25 second timeslot with it.
National Selections:
1. You are allowed to host a National Selection if you want to.
2. Every song competing in a National Selection has to be approved by the host.
3. A song can only compete once in a National Selection.
Eligible Countries and Territories:
1. Eligible countries are the 54 fully UN-recognized countries in Africa plus the territories of the Canary Islands, Ceuta, Madeira, Mayotte, Réunion and St. Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha.
2. So far not eligible to compete are the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (Western Sahara), Somaliland, the French Southern and Antarctic Lands, Melilla and the Pelagie Islands.
3. The chosen singer must have been born or have parents born in the country. If you are sending a group, at least 50% of the group’s members have to be from the country. Special Rules apply to the territories.
4. Borrowing is not allowed. Special Rules again apply to the territories.
Special Rules for the Territories:
If you participate with a territory the following special rules apply to you:
1. Singers representing a territory must have been born in these territories or currently live in these territories. Groups only need one member being born or having parents born there.
2. The territories are allowed to borrow as followed:
The Canary Islands from Andalusia.
Ceuta from Andalusia and the Balearic Islands.
Madeira from the Azores and the Districts of Faro and Beja.
Mayotte and Réunion from Corsica and the Region of Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur.
St. Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha from Gibraltar. British-African singers are allowed as well (They have to be approved by the host though).
St. Helena and Mayotte are allowed to borrow every edition, all other territories are only allowed to borrow once every three editions.
3. If you want to borrow a singer from these regions, they have to be born there or have parents from there.
4. Any entry from a borrowing region can’t participate in this contest if it has participated in any Forum contest within the last 6 months (from the confirmation date).
5. If a territory wins, the player can choose to either host the next edition in the territory (if there is big enough venue available), let the second placed country host or host together with a country of their choice.
