An ethno-fusion of France's electronic club giants and Algeria's Raï legends
A collaboration of modern and traditional, of east and west, of local and foreign. "La Hafla" (Party -في حفلة) is the perfect fusion of genres at the borderlands of two nations intrinsically and historically woven together. There is something alluring about the rhythmic structures of eastern sounds, which Acid Arab capture perfectly through their pulsating production of club classics. To some, "La Hafla" could feel like a classic of times gone by, to others, an alien soundscape on the cusp of something great. This marriage of sounds sees Algeria move in a completely different direction of recent times.
Sofiane's vocal is both seductive and empowering. The collaboration of genres makes you want to dance and party. It is a feast for the ears. Yet you can not pin-point where it belongs. It would not be out of place in the Maghreb, nor the underground clubs of Paris. It truly is a special song, but unsurprising as Acid Arab continue to combine east and west with ease. Was expecting Iveta to win this by a landslide (which I didn't like at all). Judging from the recap Gaya was actually my 1st if I remember correctly (or anyhow I at least voted for her) and therefore I'm happy she won. Her voice is really annoying tho. I'm not a fan of it unfortunately. And I personally absolutely not a fan of his voice. :/ |
