 Host entry revealed! One of the things that us, Cypriot people are known for is our hospitality. Therefore, the Cypriot entry this edition is a warm and welcoming song, which includes some nice traditional elements. As one of my goals the last few editions has been trying out different artists, who have never represented the country before in the contest, this edition again, we do, have an artist who has never represented Cyprus in the contest before, but he is certainly well-known due to his participation in the Eurovision Song Contest for  Greece!  Loukas Giorkas - "Pame ap'tin arxi" (="Let's go from the beginning") The music video for the song was recorded in the picturesque village of Lefkara, in the Larnaca district. The song is referring to making a brand new start after the situation that was caused by the pandemic. I hope you will all enjoy this edition in  Cyprus!  |

The  Dutch entry for #83 is a small, quiet song. Last week I spoke with a friend of mine about the psychological effects that implicit racism has on him as a person of color. I was really touched by his story. When I got home I remembered this song, describing the exact same feelings. Although it doesn't speak about a particular problem, it describes someone feeling lost in differentness, unable to address the cause of it. I really wanted to share this with you guys. Maybe you have your own 'elephant in the room', your own feeling of being different, being lost, that you don't know how to talk about with the people around you. Then, this song is for you. And if you don't, I hope you take in the words and have a taste of what it is like to live under the burden of an 'elephant in the room'. The Bowery - The elephant Lyrics:
