Awards #11

The 4th award: Were I to make a guess for the winner I'd have said Belgium (very mid-2000s, but in a good way), Greece (it's Helena lol.), Taiwan (came top 5 in the edition) and possibly Chile ( Malta did with a similar song) to win. And looking at how 3 of them got top 4 I wasn't that bad lol. But finally congrats to the Philippines for the first ever (?) win in any Wwwsc awards. I don't remember any of the 100 competing songs at all, and when watching the recap the eventual winner sounded horrid, but then I happened to give it so yay, I guess lol. The rest of the top seems to be okay although I find Iceland very underrated.

The voting was really exciting there. And btw. after the duel of the Philippines and Taiwan throughout basically the entire thing I'd have loved had Belgium won.


The 3rd places: Here my guesses for the win were Russia, the Philippines and Ukraine (fun songs often do well here). But those were rather random guesses since there are not less than 3 world-famous songs ( Both sides now, Price Tag and Breathless) included - although these tend to do really bad in Wwwsc awards.

And once again congrats to the Philippines for winning a very exciting voting. It's a good song, but for some reason it didn't get me too much (hence only ) ... Tbh. my nerves almost died here at the end when the top 2 just didn't get any points until the very end ...


The 2nd places: This category was a really hard one for predictions - for a similar reason like I mentioned above ( France and Canada with overused songs) and generally very open. Initial guesses of mine: Austria, Spain and Greece - with Azerbaijan ending last place.

In the end congrats to France for an imo unexpected win (but yay my won). Impressive to see that now 2 / 3 French winners also won the respective awards All in all it was a really exciting voting until the end - and especially when suddenly a wild Canada appeared (poor her for again losing to France btw ...) and a really good outcome. And btw. I just realized that the final result was basically how I voted - because Slovenia (+2) and (-2) were the only ones to place differently.


The winners: This was a very open one imo with my guesses being Azerbaijan, Spain, Chile, USA and France (aka half of the category lol).

Congrats to USA for winning this. A totally deserved win imo! However I'm a bit sad for Chile who lost for the 3rd time in a row by just a handful of points ... :/ But generally the full outcome of this category isn't bad either.


Alright guess these awards had generally quite good winners for me since I gave them 35 / 48 points.
