My top 10 for Selecția Națională 20221. Møise - Guilty
A very good song. He's a good voice too. The verses of the song are weak, but at least the chorus is really catchy. It's repeated a bit too often, however. 2. Vanu - Never Give Up
This is also a good song, vocalized by a nice voice. Here, I find the verses beautiful whereas the chorus appears to be a bit weird. However the chorus seems to be way more catchy, lol. 3. WRS - Llámame
According to the poll above, this is the forum's favourite. For me the song itself is quite okay, but what I dislike is his voice because it's leaning towards the annoying side. 4. Dora Gaitanovici - Ana
Good and powerful entry. There's not much more to say here. Oh, and btw. who's Ana, lol? 5. Petra - Ireligios
A good and modern pop song that also gets an upgrade from me for being in Romanian. However it also gets a downgrade for those "oooooh oooooh"'s. Like why's that even there? Oh, and btw. I like the addition of a choir here, but being honest that respective part sounds a lot like I've heard it before. 6. Gabriel Basco - One Night
A ballad that I find beautiful, but it's extremely close to the boring side ... Also it's not any further remarkable imo and I could actually imagine this song playing on the radio. 7. Cream, Minodora & Diana Bucşă - România mea
Okay this entry seems to be okay as a single song. On the downside it sounds extremely like every other Romanian song that's sent (or used to be sent) to these contests. And also her voice is not very special and in fact she also sounds like every other Romanian female contest singer lol. 8. Alex Parker & Bastien - All This Love
Yeah, this entry seems to be alright, but that's about it. And that's mainly because it lacks power. 9. Kyrie Mendél - Hurricane
He's got a very beautiful voice, but in this song there's literally nothing happening. So in other words this is just there10. Andrei Petruş - Take Me
He can surely sing - and that sounds pretty well. However this song is extremely boring ... I actually couldn't even listen until the end ... And finally: This NS seems to be okay, I guess. In the poll I'm voting for my top 5, still. There are 2 things that are bothering me a lot: 1. this sounded very English and 2. Where are the female voices? I mean yes, there are, but 3 / 10 can't be it.

My top 10 for Selecția Națională 20224. Dora Gaitanovici - Ana
Good and powerful entry. There's not much more to say here. Oh, and btw. who's Ana, lol? And finally: This NS seems to be okay, I guess. In the poll I'm voting for my top 5, still. There are 2 things that are bothering me a lot: 1. this sounded very English and 2. Where are the female voices? I mean yes, there are, but 3 / 10 can't be it. Dora's song is inspired by one of the fundamental legends that represent the basis of the creation of Romanian culture and civilization: myth of sacrifice for creation (the legend of Manole & Ana). The myth/legend (which became a literary motif as well) talks about the existence of a builder named Manole, who, together with other 9 builders, wanted to build a monastery on an evil place, conquered by evil forces. Whatever he built through the day got destroyed during the night, in a repetitive process. Manole has a dream, in which the evil forces request him to sacrifice the soul of a woman in order to have a peaceful place. The next day, Ana, Manole's wife, comes to bring the builders team food and water, and Manole has a turmoil of consciousness and a sense of guilt for what he has to do, and keeps calling God and the forces of the nature to make Ana stop from coming to them so that he wouldn't have to sacrifice her. However, nothing can be stopped and an entire ritual/process of building takes place, with Ana being caught into the walls of the monastery. After that, Manole commits suicide by jumping from the top of the monastery. Now, back to her song, she attempts to create an opposition to this story, in which Ana gets to know the intention of her being sacrificed and she opposes (which doesn't happen in the legend). The captivity between walls means limitation, a barrier, but she says no, this can't happen, so she breaks the wall. This is what the singer stated, as she communicates with us, the fans, in the official Facebook group of Eurovision Romania. She says the song starts from darkness and ends optimistic, expressing the personal human force. About the "Where are the female voices?" - Well, ask the corrupted jury , who made to qualify some of their friends or people with personal relations. They eliminated the fan favourites (all those who performed after Cezar) because they were in rush to print some diplomas for the qualifiers (if you notice, everyone after Cezar is NQ, which is impossible in most of the people's opinion in Romania). Eurovision Romania's Facebook post about the qualifiers got in total 2700 reactions, out of which almost 2400 are angry .

And yeah, sadly I also expected some corruption going on there ... And that's just because I've actually heard several of the other songs before and during the finalists was like "Yeah, but song xyz" was much better than this.

Yeah, it's okay and worth an from me. The verses of the song are quite boring, imo, but the chorus is actually good. And then there's that overly catchy instrumental part. On the downside, however, voice is not it ... Btw. what's the correct pronunciation (and also meaning) of his artist name?

... Btw. what's the correct pronunciation (and also meaning) of his artist name? It is the Romanian word "urs" (pronounced "oors"), which means "bear". It is a stylized version of his family name Ursu (full name Andrei Ursu).

The instrumentation is really nice, and his vocals complement it well in my opinion. The live performance is very queer, which makes the entire presentation very interesting. It's simply nice. Not outstanding, but as a Spanish-flavored electronic club track, it's satisfactory. I think there's a chance that Romania will return to the final this year, and I would not mind.
