 Azerbaijan will participate in Eurovision Song Contest 2012 since they are hosting the event. They automatically qualified for the final as they are hosts. Their artist was selected through a show called Milli seรงim turu. There were 8 heats with 9 artists performing in each one. Only one of the nine artists in each of the eight heats qualified for the Semi-Final. In the heats, a mix of televote and jury was used to decide the finalist. 5 of the Semi-Finalists competed in a Final. The winner in this Final came to represent Azerbaijan on home soil in 2012. The final took place on February 12th. On March 17 the song she would sing in ESC was published.
