What an edition. I thought the results would go a certain way, but I'm pleasantly surprised in the end.
THE SEMIS: The microstates winning two of the semis is iconic.
The RotW saved you big time. An instance in which the RotW actually helped an entry massively, then having a strong result in the final.
~~~
Heartbreaking! Literally lost the qualification due to a tiebreak against my entry.
11 points? Did not think it would flop
that hard. I thought there were some people who are into this kind of music.
Thought these would score a little better.
I thought this would be the one that would place last in the third semi.
Just 4 points away. T_T
Pretty close as well.
The fact there's a tie for last place is impressive.
THE FINAL: Last??? With only 12 points??? I thought it would do a lot better than that. The best of the AQs and middle of the pack for me overall.
Multiple countries voted for this, but it would've been hilariously iconic if only one country had voted for you and it happened to be their 12 points.
This was the song I thought was going to place last. It's underwhelming (and should not have won the NS; KiNG FOO was robbed).
Honestly still a shock qualification for me, so this bottom 3 result is expected.
It is criminal to see it this low. Love the song's overall mood and atmosphere. I thought it would do a lot better.
It's interesting and exotic-sounding, but there's nothing worth grasping once you're done listening to the song.
After qualifying via tiebreak, I was ready for a low placement. I personally still enjoy the song, so thank you for your votes.
In a field of 30 songs, this song did fade into the background, but it is still a good quality track thanks to Violette herself.
My
. A song I wanted to see do better, but I'm not too upset for its placement since I didn't see it contend for one of the higher spots.
My
. It's an amazing and solid dance track, so I'm a little disappointed other people didn't appreciate it enough. Definitely one of my favorite entries from France in a while.
The beat slays, she slays, but I wasn't slain. There's a lack of a strong hook to leave me... well, hooked. I didn't care for it overall.
Can I just briefly mention how incredibly close the scores are for the middle of the pack (14th-20th)? That's mind-blowing to me to see each country score 1-2 points apart from each other.
My
. So underrated. I think the chorus is impactful despite being a low key type of song. I would've loved this in the Top 10.
My
. Such a banger. It deserves to place a lot higher for everything about it: a fierce performer and a fantastic beat/drop.
This is mid-tempo indie pop that's been heard before, and this kind of vibe/style generally doesn't leave me with a strong impression. Should not have qualified to begin with, and if it did, it should've done much worse.
Shocked to see you this low after winning your semifinal.
Personally, it's nice, but I'm not mind-blown about this.
Placed right where it should be. Its hook is good, but in this contest, it's not enough to contend for a top placement.
It's an entry I don't care for overall, but I like the attitude she brings. I don't mind its final placement.
My
. Lyrically and vocally could be a bit stronger, but the production behind this really sold me. So vivacious!
I don't think you were affected too bad. Great rap, awesome beats, amazing presence. Could've been in the top 10, but 12th is just as great imo.
My
. Thank goodness you didn't NQ because you almost did. I'm so happy that you ended up doing so well at 11th. This track gives me a lot of adrenaline.
My
. Probably the biggest grower for me. I initially liked it, but I grew to appreciate it more once it was up against 29 other songs in the final. It has such a powerful drop and the ladies perform the track like they know they're that b*tch. Truly one of the edition's standouts.
Another song with a nice drop. I think the rest of the song is lacking, but I'm accepting of it being in the Top 10. Well done.
Overall a solid and polished track. Could it be more impactful? Yes. Does it deserve to be in the Top 10? Yes.
If Bulgaria had NQ'd, there would've been a lot of "BULGARIA WAS ROBBED" comments or something like that. Despite qualifying in 9th place, the RotW votes gave me the feeling that it would end up in the Top 10. It's campy, but not cringey. The song is actually well-produced and a bop, so congratulations.
My
!!! It's so good to see India deliver a high-caliber, high-octane Bollywood banger. There's so much power in the beat and so much flavor all around that it truly felt like I was watching a show-stopping performance, something I always expect from a top-notch Bollywood track. Well done, Rontti!
To be honest, I prefer "Kansas". Whereas "Kansas" is like finding a beacon of light in the midst of fog, the atmospheric vibes of "All Ours" is like aimlessly wandering inside the fog with no difference in where I stand. I feel an experience, but "All Ours" leaves me wanting something significant to happen. Still, congratulations on placing in the Top 5.
How is Ukraine able to be so unique in its musical identity and execute its musical identity really well? Even though this was my 11th overall, I'm still happy to see it come in 4th place because it's got really cool and unique vibes. I could've given you points if "Druh" had won your NS, but hey, at least you won the tiebreak for 4th.
I expected this to be in contention to AQ since this won its semi, and so it did. Personally, I'm only lukewarm to this. I think other songs deserve to do better than this one. However, I can't escape what a fun bop this is, and others definitely saw that with this. Congratulations on placing in the Top 3.
My
. So close to winning!
Radek, I thought this was going to be your month, since you clearly won your semi and all, so I had that hope. I could've given you 12 points, but my heart was more invested in four other songs. This was no doubt one of your best entries in a while, so I was looking forward to a possible Polish win with this. I would've been so happy for you. As for the song itself, it's so good, it's got a nice hook, and it's captivating. Doda would've been a solid and iconic winner. One day Radek, I hope you will win NNMC.
My
. I'm pleasantly surprised. This came 3rd in its semi, so it wasn't even on my radar as a possible winner. I genuinely like the song, but I didn't think so many others would like it enough that it would get pushed to a win. For one thing, I thought people were tired of Aurora. I guess she just needed to get out of Norway.
I
t's a stunning and magical duet. Their voices compliment each other, and the instrumentation is perfectly nuanced. Upon a few consecutive listens, I get why it won. I extend my congratulations to Taiwan for an incredible 4th NNMC win.
