But all my words are caught up in a cloud You know someday you'll have to say them out loud
Julia Jacklin is a Ruyjinese singer-songwriter, kickstarting her career in 2016 with her debut album Don’t Let the Kids Win, followed by her sophmore effort Crushing in 2019. After three years of touring and living outside of Ruyjin’s borders, Jacklin is back with her third studio album PRE PLEASURE.
End of a Friendship is a cinematic song and the album closer, and of course the Ruyjinese entry for the jubilee edition of Fantasia Contest. Not your typical break-up song, the song's lyric touch upon a different kind of break - a friendship.
In an interview with RNT, Jacklin has stated:
“I gave it that title because I wanted to guide the listener and make sure they knew it was a song about a friendship ending. It's not a break-up song. I think it's really hard to write friendship songs—the language that we use is identical, it’s like a loss and a personal grief in the same way that the end of a romantic relationship is. So a lot of the time, those songs just read as romantic break-up songs. I wanted to write a song that gave the appropriate amount of weight to the feeling of a friendship ending. I really indulged on that song, in terms of having a drum machine, an orchestra, a distorted guitar solo and harmonies. I just kind of threw everything I felt like using on the day; I wanted it to feel really lush and big and kind of cheesy, but in a good way.” |
LyricsThe night started out well She was having fun, far as I could tell I paid for the meal then went up to bed Lay there wondering what's happening in her head I put it all down to the heat and wine We don't have to agree all of the time Remember she wants to be by your side Be by your side
All my love is spinning round the room If only it would land on something soon
Woke up to hear her say that she couldn't stand it That she couldn't stay Out here on the road, it didn't feel right Shе listed the things about me shе didn't like I sat there in silence, accepted our fate We always found it hard to relate To what we both want, and what we both need And who we both want to be
All my love is spinning round the room If only it would land, plant and bloom
All my love is spinning round the room If only it would land on something soon But all my words are caught up in a cloud You know someday you'll have to say them out loud
"End of a Friendship" Julia Jacklin (Timeslot: 3:00+)
A video for the recap with the timeslot will be provided to the FBARG, since the track is not a single.

Bade for Scandavia! "Fragile" Scandavia will be sending the artist Bade, daughter of a second generation immigrant couple from Torlova. The song „Fragile“ is heavily influenced by the oriental Torlovan flavour, even featuring a line in Torlovan.

Meridia sadly could not confirm their debut in the Fantasia Contest before the deadline, but MBC, as an associate broadcaster, have confirmed that they will broadcast the contest for this edition. The semis will air in Everish on MBC Three, in Lakadamian on TeleLakadamie (with the TRLK commentators), in Eldancan on TeleEldanca (with commentators from NEBC), and in Mishkin (imaginary language) on TeleMiki, while the final will air in Everish on MBC One, and on TeleLakadamie, TeleEldanca and TeleMiki with their own commentators. This is due to the expanding popularity of the Contest in Meridia. We will try to confirm our debut for edition 31.

Achróa announces its entry for #30Trangueli • 26 September
The Achróan national broadcaster, STA, has announced that it is ready to reveal its next entry for the upcoming Fantasia Contest in Sincuerello, a fellow Tritonian nation that shares many cultural similarities - particularly when it comes to music. The previous entry, I Woke Up With an Open Heart, is a piece that fuses dream pop with elements of neo-soul. However, the beauty of the song failed to translate into points, thus resulting in Achróa's third-worst semi-final result. For this edition, Achróa continues to experiment with its indie sound; remaining firmly in the conventions of listenability while also trying to find a new sound for itself. In this case... indietronica meets latin alternative. Wait... latin alternative? Isn't that very.... un-Achróan?
The spoiler below contains the Achróan entry:CUANDO UNO ESTÁ ENAMORADO, SIENTES UNA ABRACADABRA // ME ACERCO A UN ACANTILADO, SIEMPRE SOBRAN LAS PALABRAS
Yemayá by Mexican Institute of Sound ft. Gaby Moreno (Gaby Moreno pictured) (TS: 1:36-2:06)
Mexican Institute of Sound is the pseudonym of Camilo Lara, an Achróan resident of the island of Victorialand where many people of Latinican origin reside. He is a highly influential figure in the 'internationalisation' of the Achróan music scene, widely seen as the flagbearer of the digital cumbia and latin alternative scene in the archipelago. Gaby Moreno is, similarly, Achróan of Latinican origin. She is a singer-songwriter and guitarist who specialises in jazz, R&B and many of its subgenres, though she also collaborates with artists of other genres.Yemayá, named after a goddess of self-love in Latinican mythology, is a standalone track released in 2020 in which Gaby Moreno provides vocals to the MIoS-penned song. It is sultry, even seductive, though nestles in quite nicely as an indie answer to a nocturnal dance with a glass of wine in hand. We hope you enjoy, and we wish the best of luck to Achróa and all other nations!

J'ai froid...
Despite sending a full national selection line-up to the council we changed our mind and once again went for an internal selection of the entry. Reason for that is quite simple - one of our choices had been claimed before we sent our artists and we will not have the time to host another edition of Sinkreska by the time next approval happens. We will support the claimed artist in the contest, undoubtably.
The entry of ours obviously was placed in the sent line-up. We decided to collect songs that would definitely stand out in the contest but our final decision could stand out the most from them all. And it it not because it's the hardest one to like, no other song we had chosen sounds as... magnificent. It awakens various emotions in the listener due to its ethereal atmospehere, creating a feeling of sounding like a literal dream. It may feel cozy at first, but is this really a dream, or rather a nightmare? Get ready to drift away with...

SANCTUS INFERNUM: NOVALIA'S BIG DEBUTNova City / September 26, 2022 On September 19, Novalia was able to confirm its participation in the 30th edition of the Fantasia Contest, marking the first time the country gets to participate in such an event. Much of the Novalian public was overjoyed at this news. Shortly afterwards, the folks at NTR hosted an internal selection to decide Novalia’s first ever Fantasia Contest entrant. Now, we can finally reveal the winner of the internal selection.Introducing…GINGER ROOT Formed in 2017 in Nova City, Ginger Root is an indie soul music project led by instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Cameron Lew. The project also includes touring members Matt Carney and Dylan Hovis. Lew has described the project’s music style as “aggressive elevator soul”, as well as drawing inspiration from groups like Vulfpeck, Toro y Moi, and White Denim. As of this very post, Ginger Root’s Spotify catalog consists of four albums and two EPs. The Novalian entry is drawn from Ginger Root’s latest output, the EP Nisemono, which has a unique concept carried out by the songs’ 80s-style instrumentation and the accompanying music videos. In 1983, Lew writes songs for rising Jaranese star Kimiko Takeguchi; but right before she is about to make her worldwide debut, she quits, and her manager forces Ginger Root to perform in her place. By sheer coincidence, a new star is born, and Ginger Root acquires all the fame and TV commercials that Kimiko would’ve gotten; as seen in the music video for Novalia's chosen entry for this edition, “Holy Hell”. Nisemono is named after the Jaranese word for “fake” or “fraud”, and it touches on the theme of imposter syndrome, and constantly doubting yourself and your identity. Naturally, these themes are also touched upon in “Holy Hell”. The song is about a relationship that is doomed to fail due to the tension and internal troubles on both sides. Could Cameron and Kimiko have also felt this way with each other in the EP’s story? Maybe so… "Holy Hell" by Ginger RootMusic/Lyrics: Cameron LewTimeslot: 2:03+We wish Ginger Root the best of luck in Sincuerello!
