After confirming both participation and hosting some days ago, it is time to reveal the thirteenth host entry of the contest. Even though it is ironic (af) for us to have the first ever non-European language edition held in Eritrea, land of diaspora, we will still follow the rule and also debut a new language to the contest. Please welcome the legend himself . . .
Mohamed Haji Hamudi
Mohamed Haji Hamudi (محمد حاج حمودي) is an Eritrean singer originated from the Dahlak Archipelago and live in Skellefteå, Västerbotten County, Sweden right now. He can utilize at least two languages, Dahlak obviously and Arabic - and could also use Swedish and Somali as well. He has some fames among the Eritrean and Habesha TikTok societies. That's it. That's all we know about him from his TikTok account.
On October 16, he is announced to the public as the Eritrean representative for the upcoming Africa-wide music competition. He will also debut his homeland's native language Dahalik language (ዳሃሊክ) which has approximately 2,500 speakers to the contest as well. This would be the third time for Eritrea to introduce a new language to the contest, after Italian in the first edition and Tigrinya in the ninth edition.
