Upon seeing the inclusion of  Breizh being allowed to compete in this contest, the Hokkaidō Ainu Kyōkai, the main organisation that works to preserve the unique cultural identity of the  Ainu people, reached out to the directors of Yoshi's New Diva to allow for Ainu musicians to compete in the contest as a way to promote Ainu culture to the globe and preserve the unique aspects of Ainu culture that aren't found in any other culture. Having gotten the greenlight to do so, Ainumosir is proud to announce our debut in the contest under the direction of head of delegation Imekanu Nukishio. What better way to ring in the new year than with a new nation taking part in the contest landscape. And without further adieu, we would like to introduce to you our debut artist and their song.
  Hamazu Masahi is a Japanese composer, pianist, and lyricist. Born in Munich in 1971, he began composing for the videogame company Square Enix in 1996, primarily on the Final Fantasy series. He is most remembered for his work on the soundtracks of Final Fantasy X and XIII. In 2010, he left Square to begin his own studio, MONOMUSIK.
Sakai Mina, known by the mononym of Mina, is a Japanese singer and instrumentalist. Born in 1981 in Obihiro, she is of Ainu ancestry. She performs in Ainu-itak, English and Japanese. She also plays the mukkur (an Ainu jaw-harp) and the tonkori (an Ainu stringged instrument).
The pair met while Hamazu was composing for the soundtrack of Final Fantasy XIII. Mina provided vocals for three tracks on the soundtrack: "Sulyya Springs," "Will to Fight" and the "Gapra Grapewood." The pair realised they had chemistry together, and decided to form IMERUAT the year following Hamazu's departure from Square Enix. IMERUAT translates to lightning in Ainu-itak. The pair continue to weave in traditional Ainu music with contemporary influences, and the track that they will perform in Dublin is an excellent example of this.
