Lebanon confirms participation in NVSC #43!
This evening, LBCI has confirmed that Lebanon will be present at the forty-third North Vision Song Contest, expected to be held for the first time in Montenegro. The country is celebrating a successful return to the North Vision final at the previous contest in Lisbon, where Tina Yamout defied the odds to finish seventeenth with her charismatic Arab pop track 'Matloub'.
With thoughts turning to the upcoming edition, LBCI seems keen to keep its options open, with newly-introduced national selection NAHDA neither confirmed nor ruled out at this stage.
More information is expected in due course, though LBCI is continuing to accept submissions as normal in the interim.
Lebanon's NVSC journey made the best possible start as Nicole Saba won for the country on their debut in the fifth edition with 'Hafdal Ahlam', bringing the contest to Beirut for the sixth edition and starting a (to this day unmatched) three-edition qualification streak. The country's results from then on were rather turbulent, including two four-edition streaks of non-qualifications, although Myriam Fares achieved Lebanon's second best result with 'Nifsi Aoulhalak' in the fourteenth edition - second place.
A new delegation stepped in for the twenty-fourth edition, bringing Lebanon back to the final with Nelly Makdessy's 'Kunt Atmanna' in Vienna, and achieving three top ten results for the country (with 'Call Me a Stranger', '22' and 'Dear Jealousy') before passing the baton on to the current delegation team for the thirty-fourth edition onwards, returning to the final - and to the top ten - with Azure Ryder's 'Stronger'. The country has seen mixed results since, with Tina Yamout's 'Matloub' most recently bringing a streak of non-qualifications to an end in the forty-second edition of the contest.

« Tina Yamout was a fantastic ambassador for Lebanon and closed the North Vision final with style, even picking up a number of 12 points along the way. We know all too well that doing well in one edition is no guarantee of success in the next, but we're going to do what we can to get a qualification streak in motion. »

« Whilst, of course, we would love to host another edition of NAHDA, the logistics of holding such an event under current circumstances would prove extremely complicated. We're still very much exploring our options, and remain committed to establishing NAHDA amongst our local audience, but we also have to be realistic about what we can achieve. »
