First to receive their critiques is Kulo Chichis (Argüello).
JuPaul:
Heyy diva. So this song... it's cutesy I guess? I always have to laugh when I hear the intro instrumental. The rest of the song is fine, it's adorable, but nothing really to gag over for me I fear. Would've preferred to see Cut To The Feeling or so, but happy that this song means a lot to you x
Mary Cosby:
This is cute! Personally not my favourite of hers, kind of realising that this song didn’t gag me now as it did when I first heard it? Like obviously it’s still good but It was better in memory.
Björk:
GAY RIGHTS! Best song ever. This track has went Platinum x10 in Björk’s household. You’ve made a great impression on me and I will be sure to keep you on my radar, queen!
Kenya E. TPusi:
Carly is such an incredible artist. Cut to the Feeling would’ve scored higher from me, but this is just a serotonin overload, even if some other bitches on this panel would say otherwise
Charli XCX:
Your entry this week might actually be my favourite of the bunch, love Carly and the song, it's considered pop perfection for a reason and i'm glad you went with it!
Brimheim:
You're insane for this.

We move on to Rosa del Trópico (Sel)!
Brimheim:
This is nostalgia packed in 3 minutes and 40 seconds. Like how can't anyone not remember the "duh-duh-duh-duh-duh" at the start of this song? They don't produce songs like this anymore, truly.
Charli XCX:
A classic as you said, a song many of us grew up with and it's definitely a banger. Well done!
Mary Cosby:
This is also just one of my all-time favourites probably since I was like, ten years old. If this song was a cheese, it would be a Parmigiano Reggiano, in the sense that it is strong and rich in flavour, has a hard exterior. If this song would be a bottle of wine, it would be a Dom Pérignon, in the sense that this song is top shelf, elite, for the girls who get it. It’s vintage, the older the better it gets. Like so good. Love love love!
JuPaul:
This bops a little! Personally I never really cared for it that much but it's not bad by any means, just not one of my absolute favs from that era. It still sounds nice today though, which isn't what every product of that time can say, so good for you.
Björk:
Oh this is a timeless classic. It is a bit dated for 2024 but revisiting this one was such a massive throwback. Good job queen, you’re one to watch out for!
Kenya E. TPusi:
This song just ages like the finest of wines. I don’t know what magic these Aussies put in this song, but it’s so goooooooooooooooooood. Inshallah you can keep this up, cause you’ve set a high bar.

Next up is Kaviar Roth (kev)!
Björk:
I’ve used the word “classic” before but I really mean it. A massive throwback. 10 out of 10! You nailed it.
Brimheim:
This is 10 out of 10 in a timeless sense. That's all I can say!
Kenya E. TPusi:
I can see why you chose this song. It’s a really fun synth-pop track, and although I’ve never heard it before, it is going straight into my playlist. You decided to start this season off strong as hell, so inshallah you don’t run into the same thing my good judy Sis Anne Desit did
JuPaul:
One of the few songs this week that was already part of my Spotify library, so I stan! Sometimes I forget that this was more of a local hit rather than a worldwide smash and get surprised when someone doesn't know it, but I'm glad that it convinced the ones who were new to it. The lyrics are a bit cringe at times but the song bops so much that I don't mind. Aged very well methinks!
Mary Cosby:
I was kind of on the fence with this one! It’s such a piece of it’s time, I’d never heard this before I think of my own free will, but there’s something a bit kitsch about this that I’m really drawn to. It kind of makes me cringe but in a very endearing way. The lyricism also kind of elevates it in a sense? Also it’s very quintessential 2010 music so yeah I think I'm on board with this!
Charli XCX:
I think your song this week is quite nice, not in my top of the week though.

Fourth in line is Miramira Namdiwa (Sylwia)!
Björk:
This is cutesy. The instrumental is nice but the vocals are a tad weird for me. What happened with the mixing and mastering? Who’s the producer of this? I need to speak with them. Otherwise, bonus points for sending something non-English!
Charli XCX:
This is a really cute track and one of the few I wasn't aware of. I appreciate the different language as well so good job for that.
Brimheim:
Did the Dumplings put crack in this? First listen of this put me in a sort of trance and now I believe I have this in my playlist. It's the singer's voice. It's the vibe. It's something very alternative that hits home for me.
Mary Cosby:
I just love listening to Polish, it’s such a pretty language for singing. Even though I had never heard this song before I think it kind of perfectly encapsulates this kind of 2015 style of music that I'm really drawn to at the moment, it really inspires me right now!
Kenya E. TPusi:
It’s a very good song. I see why this means a lot to you. I don’t really know what else to say. Good song
JuPaul:
A really original choice I think and I also love how personal it is to you! That being said, the song fell a little flat for me. The instrumental kept building up for something that the vocals just didn't match and the big climax I was hoping for never really came. Not a bad song by any means but just not very memorable for me x

Then we have Miss Fiona Ankle (Lars)!
Kenya E. TPusi:
Now this is a song I was expecting from you, miss Ankle. The synth is a bit obnoxious, but this gives me pokemon heart gold in the best ways. That being said, If I can clock which song you sent in a playlist week in week out, that’s gonna get to be real stale. Watch out for that pitfall girl
JuPaul:
Ignore her, she drinks. Another original choice and one I really enjoyed. You might not know this but I actually got my only S3 win with Goldfrapp so slaayyy. But seriously, the song itself is very pretty and I just really enjoyed it x
Mary Cosby:
This is one of the few submissions that I hadn’t heard of before, but I really enjoyed it! It stood out, I really liked the beats, the tunes etc. I love songs that are experiences, this made me experience things, very positively!
Charli XCX:
This is definitely one of my stand outs for this week. A really good start from you here and i'm excited to see what you bring in the future!
Brimheim:
This is weirdly nostalgic in a way. It is an immersive experience, even though this is the very first time I hear about Goldfrapp and this song. It represents the 90s quite well actually, full of sci-fi, sublimity and a curiosity into the futuristic sensibilities. Thank you for this piece of music!
Björk:
Ohh queen, look at how you are that. I love me some Goldfrapp. I, personally, am a Head First type of girl but so I would’ve loved if you have sent something more synth-poppy out of Goldfrapp’s repertoire but this one is a solid choice nonetheless!

Now we talk to Rhianna Relisa Alboom (Jacob)!
Brimheim:
Old Japanese music always have a place in the heart for me. Mariya is iconic and this is a favorite! The instrumental is very ahead of time.
Björk:
Yet another classic in this strong week. Y’all are making it hard to judge! A certified bop and a worthy representative of the city-pop genre.
Kenya E. TPusi:
Pandering to the guest judge I see. I’m a huge fan of city pop, and this is as quintessential as it gets. Would I have preferred something that isn’t one of the first songs that comes up when you search up city pop? Yes. Will I mark you down heavily for it? No. There’s a reason why this is the case, and if the food is good, why not give it the props it deserves?
Charli XCX:
A very interesting submission from you, perhaps not one I could see myself streaming in my free time, but it's still one that is appreciated.
JuPaul:
First of all, love the drag name, I agree so much. Now, the song was lovely! I think city pop is a very endearing genre and so I'm glad you decided to represent it. This song is no "Soul Lady" by Yukika but it's still very solid.
Mary Cosby:
Love city pop as well! This is obviously the blue print, but I still don’t think it’s like the cream of the crop, you know? Like it’s the seed or the field or the scythe or the plough of this genre, so I obviously respect it, and it’s still really good but I don’t really think about this song at all!

Time for Madame Erba Lista (Luiri)!
Mary Cosby:
This is a classic! To me this song is definitely a child of its time, it’s not really a song that I think is really groundbreaking compared to her other songs. It’s a good song and it’s difficult to be objective when it comes to favourites but this is like, not really my favourite!
Charli XCX:
Seeing Adele in this challenge is no surprise as she has a lot of classics in her discography that could be sent here. Your song this week is really good and is certainly one of them, even though it's not my personal favourite of hers.
Brimheim:
Thank you for sharing such a heartfelt and deeply personal story behind your song choice. Music is most powerful when it connects us to raw emotions and memories. That aside, 'Set Fire to the Rain' is such a classic for me — it’s full of emotional peaks, dynamic range, hass that unique blend of power and vulnerability that is truly Adele herself. I have nothing else to say except, well done.
Kenya E. TPusi:
I love me some Adele. Wine mom music hits sometimes. I will say this is one of her weaker songs imo, but this is still a damn good song
Björk:
Is it basic? Yes, but I am not judging originality this week. This is yet another classic and a quintessential Adele song. I wish she would go back to delivering such grandiose songs again.
JuPaul:
In any other week this would've get you dragged but for this week I'll allow it. I'll go against the grain and say that this is actually one of my favourite Adele songs. Probably only outdone by Rolling In The Deep I think! I just love how the music and the vocals harmonise.

And last but not least, Paquetta Ciggz (Lux)!
Kenya E. TPusi:
This is very cute. The chorus is so gorgeous. You have left me speechless in the best way.
Mary Cosby:
Love! It’s one of my favourites too, that’s kind of how I judged this week honestly because it’s so difficult to judge favourites… but I just love this song so much, it brings me a lot of joy! Very gleeful, very good first impression!
Björk:
A great discovery for me. I am not usually the biggest fan of soul/R&B-adjacent music but I really dig this old school sound. The orchestral instrumentation and her tender vocals make this a tenner. Also, turns out she’s Maya Rudolph’s mum? Who knew? Good job queen!
JuPaul:
Beautiful song! I don't have much to say, I think this stood out a lot, it's by far the oldest song and its genre is also quite different from everyone else. Good submission x
Brimheim:
It is a slowburn. It is slowly growing on me. The melody though! Beautiful.
Charli XCX:
You took a risk this week with sending an older song and it looks like it paid off. Wonderful choice and it stands out!
