When immigrating to a country is a planned thing, you have to prepare for it. E.g. You have to know at least the basic of the official language spoken in the country you're immigrating. You have also to embrace the culture of that country. If in Bolivia you're allowed to drive at 200 km/h it doesn't mean you can do the same in India (Just an example ) I can understand people who immigrate even without cards etc., if they escape from critical situation, because they're brave enough to do such a move, all my respect for them! I guess it's very hard to leave your origins, friends, the place where you were born. Of course I can't feel that on my skin, but I can imagine and wonder on that... Other than that, immigration isn't a bad thing at all. People evolved thanks to the immigration, it's natural.. But now, there are a lot of cultures, and in my opinion, the solution is to embrace every culture, and to know something about each one, and only then you can live in harmony. By respecting other cultures as well.

If you're going to immigrate to a country or move there for a while then it's a natural courtesy that you speak to the native speakers in their mother tongue. That's why I made it my mission to speak Thai mainly whilst I was in Thailand. It's something that linguists call immersion. You immerse yourself to the means and customs of the country and that includes speaking the language.
Even when going somewhere for 2 weeks, I still make it mandatory to learn the basics of the language.
Even when at the Chinese bakery or supermarket, or the sushi place, or the Thai café in my home town, I ensure that I speak Mandarin, Japanese and Thai - because it's common knowledge that if you open up to people who aren't from your city or country, the more confidence it'll give them to eventually and naturally respond to you in English even if they make errors. It's cultural acceptance and mutual understanding.

What do you think about the fact that the Crimeans have those two choices in their referendum for independance? - Becoming Russian - Being completely independant They aren't even asked if they still want to be Ukranian. I don't think every Crimean agrees on independance.
