FREDERIC RZEWSKI & CHRISTOPHER HINTERHUBER |

Rzewski:Rzewski was born in Westfield, Massachusetts, USA. Many of Rzewski's works are inspired by secular and socio-historical themes, show a deep political conscience and feature improvisational elements. Some of his better-known works include The People United Will Never Be Defeated! (36 variations on the Sergio Ortega song El pueblo unido jamás será vencido), a set of virtuosic piano variations written as a companion piece to Beethoven's Diabelli Variations; Coming Together, which is a setting of letters from Sam Melville, an inmate at Attica State Prison, at the time of the famous riots there (1971)Hinterhuber:Hinterhuber was born in Klagenfurt, Carinthia, Austria, and studied with Rudolf Kehrer and Heinz Medjimorec at the university for Music in Vienna, and with Lazar berman at the Accademia Pianistica in Imola, Italy. He also attended master classes with Dmitri Bashkirov, Oleg Maisenberg, and Murray Perahia. In 2001, he won the second prize at the Beethoven Piano Competition in Vienna, Austria, and also performed in Michael Haneke's film The Piano Teacher (his musical performances and his hands were used in the film). Since then, Hinterhuber has performed at Carnegie Hall, in New York, Wigmore Hall, in London, Concertgebow, in Amsterdam, and in many other major venues. Hinterhuber has performed as a soloist and with orchestras, including the Wiener Symphoniker, the Staatskapelle Weimer, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and many others. He has also collaborated with artists such as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Dennis Russell Davies, and Bertrand de Billy. Hinterhuber has performed chamber music with the Hugo Wolf Quartett, the Ysaye Quartet, Ernst Kovacic, Christian Altenburger, and many others. Hinterhuber has also performed in festivals in Salzburg, Prague, Vienna, Guadalajara and other locations. Hinterhuber has made many recordings with the Naxos and Kalrec labels, performing works by Haydn, Ries, Schubert and Zemlinsky. A recording of works by Hummell earned the Editors Choice award from Gramophone magazine in February, 2008. Hinterhuber teaches piano at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.
Collaborated together with his featured artist, Frederic Rzewski, Hinterhuber will do his united pride with him for the classical music into Musical Clash of Austria. And to show the people what classical music are worth in the present time. Not only for the Austrian people, but also for the international juries tastes, which plays a major role for the voting phase too.----------------------------------------- Next artist to be found will be from Tyrol. It will be announced tomorrow on same exact time. (4 p.m. CET)
