Ok, my whole ESC history then
(personal history only; classmates/friends not included)2003: This is the first one I can remember.
I also remember that Lou ("Let's Get Happy") was my favourite from our NS and I didn't quite understand the voting and winner's presentation so I kept asking my mom: "Did she
won now?" etc..
jan plsI also bought her single, it's still in my CD cupboard
At Eurovision, I watched until
Turkey and LOVED IT (especially the dress
) and I told my mom: "This shall win!!" and then I fell asleep and yeah.. the morning after I've probably been the happiest person on earth!
Later, I also bought Sertab's single and always danced to it
It was my favourite song for a long time and must have been my favourite song of the year.
2004: I don't remember THAT much of it. Although I knew most of the songs from our NS, I don't think I have watched it.. WRONG! I actually did watch it and I found proof because I found some sheet where I wrote down the participating songs and the wonderful NS title "Germany, 12 poinst" i stgWhat I can remember was that
Ruslana was my favourite back then, but I always got confused with Ruslana-Russland (german for "Russia")..
2005: I remember that Gracia was my favourite from our NS
From Eurovision, I remember that
Helena Paparizou was my favourite, followed by
Vanilla Ninja, which I had known before.
I also remembered, that I bought Helena's single and that it was played in a carrousel where I was in.
Basically, I connect 'Summer 2005' with "My Number One"
2006: This was the first year when I bought the CD before the competition.
I actually only bought it because of Lordi, which were in the german single charts before Eurovision lol wrong, jan pls get your memory right and Kate Ryan, because I loved her!
When I listen to the CD nowadays, I always remember the songs' beginnings, because I skipped the most songs but remember how they start!
From Eurovision, I remember how I asked my mom where
Belgium was and she answered that it might have failed to qualify from the "semi-final".
I also remember, that I knew
Arsenium and
Las Ketchup before. And my favourites were
Finland,
FYR Macedonia,
Turkey and
Ukraine.
2007: I watched our NS because my favourite group Monrose was participating
And the other acts were so bad
(lol sorry Roger, RIP ._.), that I was sure Monrose would win - the more sad I have been when they failed.. I have cried.
I've also bought the CD before Eurovision.
From Eurovision, I don't remember much, except that I was sad that
DJ Bobo failed and I hated the
winner..
Ukraine was my favourite!
2008: I also watched our NS this year. I remember that I included 3 songs (Marquess, Cinema Bizarre and No Angels) into my charts called "
Jan's Funk Charts" (
).
NOBODY NEEDED THIS INFO Cinema Bizarre have seemed to be my favourites, although I was happy that No Angels won
I also bought the CD before Eurovision. What I remember from this was, that
Greece was my absolute favourite (along with
Germany), I remember that I thought the
Czech girl looked like a former member of No Angels and the
Icelandic participant looks like Cascada. Also, I was surprised that a "DJ song" entered (
)
There were also songs I took into my mobile phone, which were
Germany,
Greece,
Spain,
Belgium,
Cyprus,
Bulgaria,
Azerbaijan and
Ukraine
From Eurovision, I actually quite remember a lot. For example,
- I gave points from 1 to 10 to each song, unfortunately I can't find that sheet of paper anymore
- I was totally happy with the performance of No Angels and thought they would get into top 3. The more I was disappointed when they only finished 23rd
- I looooooved
Armenia, especially because of that "Qele Qele". And always when it got points, my parents said to me: "Oh Jan, "your Qele Qele" is getting points" and I was happy
- I HATED
Bosnia & Herzegovina and never understood why it was so popular - Now I love it
- Same for
Croatia, though I still hate it!
- I was amused with the performances of
Latvia and
France.
- I asked my parents what
"Azerbaijan" is.
- My mom missed the
Spanish performance, although I really wanted to show it to her.
Later I asked her why the people boo'ed and she said, because people don't like the Spanish bullfighting
- Moreover, I was disappoined with the
winner.
My favourite was
Greece, my mom's favourite was
Azerbaijan and my dad's favourite was
Latvia
2009:I suddenly heard in the news, that our entry has been selected. I remember how I played it on our computer and my parents were like: "OMG it's soooo bad".
I've bought the CD before Eurovision and put
"DΓΌm Tek Tek" onto my mobile phone, as well as into my charts (on #1!
) My other favourites were
Albania,
Armenia,
Azerbaijan and
Ukraine
I remember how I danced on sunny afternoons to these songs on the table in my room NOBODY NEEDED THIS INFO I still remember the dance to
"Always"
noooooooFrom the Eurovision final, I remember:
- how my mom was surprised to see
Patricia Kaas participating, because I didn't know her
- how I couldn't understand the fact, that
Norway was the big favourite, so I was quite upset with the vicotry although I still liked the song
- I was like: "OMG WE'RE HAVING DITA VON TEESE YAAAAAAAY" and "What the **** are
the Armenians wearing?
"
gay level: 0%, tolerance level: 0% JAN PLS- My parents also knew
Lloyd Webber before
- I remember that I was jumping and dancing and shouting when
Turkey performed LOL
2010:I didn't really follow our NS, though I've seen the final and was happy with the winning singer/song
Back then, I put my top 3 to my iPod, which was
Germany,
Slovakia and
Turkey
This was also the first year, that I've watched YouTube tops, statistics etc.
I also started counting YouTube tops lol ..
PLUS, My Eurovision Top 2010 was the first video I have EVER created!!
(I recently found it on the laptop I'm currently using! )From Eurovision I remember:
- I was sooooo upset when I saw
Slovakia and
Latvia didn't qualify, while
Russia qualified, the day after Semi 1
- Semi-Final 2 was the first semi-final I've ever watched!!
- There I've made a voting with my parents to determinate our 10 qualifiers
- In the final, I knew the running order by heart and always told my mom which country would be performing next!
-
I also realize, that this was the first year, where Luca was watching Eurovision actually, supporting Lena of course lol this is wrong afaik jan pls- My dad said that Lena would NEVER win.. the happier I was when she won indeed
- The voting was my personal highlight from Eurovision EVER!
July/August 2010: I got more and more interested in Eurovision. I randomly searched for "Worldvision Song Contest" to see if it exists and so I found out about online contests. It became more and more and more..!!
Until I opened my first own contest in August, when I came back from a trip to Cologne!
The first winner of my contest was
Australia, with "Torn" by Natalie Imbruglia!
My first victory in a contest was somewhere in September with
Austria, "Boy Like You" by Charlee!
2011: I started following national selections, I didn't really watch them, but I listened to NS songs
My favourite back then was
"Rockefeller Street", so I was totally happy when I checked Wikipedia and saw it would be representing
Estonia in Eurovision!
I was also happy to see
Charlee trying for Austria and
Karizma for Moldova. The more upset I was when they didn't became chosen
I also followed our NS, where "Taken By A Stranger" was my favourite
There was a little hype around it because it was different
It was obvious that it'd win
From Eurovision itself, I watched like ALL Backstage clips I found for the first time and it was just so awesome
And for the first time, I watched all Eurovision events, all three semi-finals plus the final of course
I wasn't really a fan of the results though..
In the end of 2011, I somehow found OVSC and started participating in it. I discovered the other side of the online contest world.
2012: It's getting to grow bigger and bigger, I'm not going to write much anymore
2012 started awesome when
Ivi Adamou was chosen to represent Cyprus, especially when "La La Love" (my fav) won, cause I looooooved her from my own contest where she participated with the song "To Mistikou Mou Na Vris", which I gave
, which ended up second last though
More and more of my NF favourites became chosen, so it started to be one of my favourite years ever, I also loved the theme and the stage and everything!
This was also the first year, where I watched National Selections.
The NSs I remember that I watched, were
Melodifestivalen,
Greece (with my mom
comment: and she explained to me what aphrodisiac is btw LOL),
Latvia,
Romania,
Switzerland,
Denmark,
Austria (Conchita was my fav
),
Moldova,
Netherlands,
Portugal,
Ukraine,
Bulgaria,
Slovenia,
Estonia,
Spain,
Germany ofc and my NS highlight
Russia
I just loved the NS so much, I don't know why
I also remember that I've watched the song presentation of
Turkey
I was bored to see
Loreen #1 in every top, so I started to dislike it more and more and more..
November 2012: I joined the forum, because I found it interesting to communicate with other people having the same interests plus I wanted to comment my votes for different contests
The rest is either known, can be read somewhere in this forum, or is normal
Beside the fact, that I just spent more than 1 hour to write this, my fingers are hurting and I'm very tired now..
Sorry, if there are any mistakes, but I'm too lazy to read it again and correct mistakes...
