Scottish Gaelic is not in your school?? I'm ashamed tbh ;;   I mean, here Irish is compulsory (unless you have an exemption - like a non Irish born person for example) in every county and constituency  Except in Northern Ireland, I imagine It's only available in certified Gaelic schools and in the Highlands, which is literally unbelievable  There is, however, a whole Gaelic curriculum for those who can speak Gaelic just as the English speak English. But since I lost most of my knowledge of my Gaelic knowledge (being taken over by the Anglicisation of almost everything), I'd fall into the category of Gaelic (Learners). I understand  a shame as Gàidhlig is an amazing language, I have to say I understand some as some words are exactly the same as Irish (Gaeilge) so I love the Celtic languages  But well we have a similar system too. You can get your children thought through "Gaelscoileanna" which is basically Irish school, you can see what happens there  I didn't go to one as at that time I didn't have a huge interest in Irish and my parents have little knowledge of Irish, so I guess I'm the one in the family who knows the most  But as I got older I started to appreciate Irish. Now I love the language  it's boring as a class but hey, the language matters  I'd even consider studying it in university  |

But don't they have different states in UK / Ireland and EU?

I'm so conflicted for my college courses, I just don't know what to do  I'm on the path of languages, but idk - International Languages seems like a great course, the entry requirements are high though; 475-500+ points. I have alternatives too, which include a Celtic Studies course (which incorporates Old Irish and Welsh) which sounded so interesting to me. If I didn't get the international languages, I could get the Celtic studies as the requirements are lower. I think I am certain of my college though - the facilities are amazing and course choices fit my interest  |

Meaning? As much as I know Irish is an official language in the EU since 2008, but Idk about Scottish. Irish is indeed ofc, but Scottish Gaelic is not recognised as an EU language, but I suppose as a regional language? |
