Learn Icelandic first! Then you can always try Faroese because they are so similar that you don't even notice the differences between Icelandic and Faroese the written forms are indeed quite look-alike but you'll certainly notice the difference if you try to speak Faroese That's what I meant The spoken language is really different. The Faroese sounds are so strange ý = oui

About Faroe Islands: They are ok in my opinion. I don't mind seeing them in NVSC. They are recognized by every European country. The participation is realistic for me. They have music and they can handle a participation for me. This is just my opinion! Recognized as what?

Obviously you cant compare this. O.o Like Bavaria is also recognized as part of Germany. And several autonomous regions in Europe.
