I thought about to forbid worldwide-famous artists that are not coming from Europe. (that includes e.g. Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Pink, Nicki Minaj, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Pitbull, Flo Rida, Justin Timberlake, Justin Bieber, Kylie Minogue, Rihanna, Britney Spears and many more ) Even if Britney has Maltese descent or Katy Perry Portuguese... do you really think they'd take part in ESC for those countries? Hehehe, NO! But I'm not sure yet

I was about to suggest what Jan just said I don't really like the new rule, but if any American/Australian/etc. artist is allowed to take part in a NS then it would be more "realistic" if the artist wasn't very well known.

RTL's official position about the new NBU rule"We are a bit confused over everything, almost. We don't want to complain, because, in fact, we're beneficiating of the Benelux support. Actually, the best solution in our point of view, is that borrowing should be allowed for small european countries (from one or two neighbour countries, generally) and for pairs of culturally-related countries only if the respective artist has at least 50% roots from one of the countries of the pair. If a country, in NVSC's current status is allowed to borrow, but it's enough musically developed to have at least 10 active artists, then that country shouldn't be allowed anymore. We don't agree about the new NBU rule because a well known artist has a better impact over a not known one, whenever what songs they do perform. A restriction for american/asian/african/artic/oceanian singers would be the best variant. Another important restriction would be the one of singing fully in the mother tongue of a country that a foreign arist is willing to represent. Mainstream US music is the one we, RTL members want to avoid in this spectaculous contest.
it would be a shame.."

I think not well known American musicians should have a shot at NVSC. I will talk with Jan about a restriction on certain musicians. This edition will be a test for this rule. If it fails, NVSC 6 will get rid of it.
