Two SFs is better, but since there's so many participants maybe 3?

For 2 semi-finals: 26 participants in each, 12 qualifiers For 3 semi-finals: 18 participants in each, 8 qualifiers (but then I'd need two more entries to make it 54)

In that case 2 SFs is better.

Asi gave me a better idea for 3 SFs For 3 semi-finals: 17 participants in each, 8 qualifiers and 1 automatic qualifier (the winning user)
